Three Residence Burglaries Terrify Town Sunday Night

Robbers entered three homes in the town early Sunday. In Putnam Shull Thornton and Baker residences they stole money, clothing, a watch and a new vanity case. Police traced a white man, found a sheep skin coat, and noted a strange auto with three occupants cycling the streets while the burglaries continued.

Declared Crawford Ridge Board Picks J T Myers

J T Myers was installed as a Crawford Ridge school board member after writing in his name on the November ballots. Only one candidate filed for two vacancies and Myers won 26 of 284 votes, exceeding the 8 percent threshold needed for a write‑in to be certified, but officials delayed certification due to a legal misunderstanding.

Mrs Sarah Bright Dies Near Vanlue at 83

Mrs Sarah Bright died suddenly at her home west of Vanlue at about 6 45 pm. A stroke of apoplexy caused death within 30 minutes. She would have been 84 in March. Mystery Car Reported Abandoned At Findlay Street

A Dodge coupe was found left in the driveway of the Almon Blue home on W Findlay street on Friday night. Saturday afternoon a second car arrived with two men and a woman and one man took the abandoned vehicle away toward Findlay. No strangers spoke or explained the scene to Mr Blue.

Methodist Church Day Services Next Wednesday

Regular Church Day services are planned at the Methodist church. The afternoon 2 00 to 5 00 will host meetings of the Foreign Missionary Society the Home Missionary Society and the Aid. The Tite branch of the North western Ohio Coop Dairy Sales Assn met Tuesday at the American Legion hall with 45 members. Secretary treasurer Mr. Strong spoke on the Ohio Farmers Coop Milk Assn. and the local station reported 95 000 in business last year with a 5 cent per pound patronage refund on butterfat totaling 1 869 during Oct Nov and Dec. Death at Columbus Grove for H. S. Bennet at 88

Funeral attended by Mr. and Mrs. W. S. McKinnon and others for H. S. Bennet of Columbus Grove. He was 88, survived by his wife of 66 years and three children, including Mrs. McKinnon and Mrs. Bowers, with one daughter Arvilla having died in infancy. A Civil War veteran and Christian church member.

Strand Theatre Scramble Delivers Ben Hur Film

D A Capell owner of the Strand in Oberlin found the Ben Hur film for three nights had not arrived. A Cleveland office mixed up the date, booking it for Carey on Feb 22 instead of Jan 22. Mark Cane made a 200 mile round trip in four hours, bringing the film to open one Sunday matinee.

Vaccination Order At Cooper Corporation Fire Factory

City health officials ordered all Cooper Corporation fire factory workers vaccinated for smallpox after a worker with the disease was found to have been employed there over the weekend. About half the plant received vaccinations this morning with the rest to follow. Dr Ek W Milamore, city health commissioner, oversees vaccinating those not covered by private physicians as two city cases and several county cases are reported.

DeWitt Dies at Home After Heart Attack in Carey

Charles A. DeWitt died at his Carey home on Friday afternoon from a heart attack after years of rheumatism. Funeral services were held Monday at 2:00 p.m. at his residence with Rev. Paul R. Clouser of Christ Lutheran church officiating. Interment followed at Spring Grove cemetery. He was born July 15 1855 in Carey, aged 72 years 6 months 5 days, married Ada Perrine in youth. six children were born, three survive: Blanche at home, Howard of Carey, Joseph of Tiffin. He is also survived by one brother, two sisters, and a large circle of friends. He had spent his life in Carey as a mason. Deaths in the family occurred in the prior months.
