Death of Dr J W Powell Prominent Findlay Citizen
Mrs T G Laws was called to Findlay last Thursday due to her brother Dr J W Powell’s illness. Powell died Friday and his funeral was held Sunday at the First Methodist Episcopal church with large attendance including Findlay physicians and I C C F members. The Rawson lodge was represented as well. Rev F W Stanton led services. Mr and Mrs Laws and daughter Alva attended. Ulva remained. Powell’s father lives at the Laws home, aged eighty five.

Last Thursday fore noon a street in front of Mrs. Joseph Roll’s home rose as much as eighteen inches. Officials diagnosed an abscess while locals suspected a water leak. Digging through frozen ground revealed a sprung service pipe at Chesebrough shoe store, releasing water and causing subsidence back toward normal.
