In a tense high school game at Carey, Tiffin’s junior home girls’ team edged the Carey squad 28 to 10 after Carey led most of the contest. The match featured strong defense and late Tiffin plays that shifted the outcome.
Carey girls fell behind early as Jr. Order built a lead but roared back in the fourth quarter. Peggy Ann powered Carey to a late 25 24 edge before a blown whistle and a late Jr. Order basket gave Jr. Order a 27 26 victory.
Arcadia High will host Carey’s teams next Saturday at 7 30 PM due to the usual night conflict. Last year Carey split games with Arcadia, and Arcadia remains strong this season, promising a real contest.
The Queen Esther class of the Lutheran Sunday school organized a pot-luck supper at the Lutheran church Monday evening for about 65 attendees. After dessert the group enjoyed old fashioned songs and piano solos by Rev. Lewis P. Speaker and a piano duet by Mrs. Mervin Shafer and Miss Elsie Howard. Invited guests included the choir and spouses, council members and their spouses, and husbands of Queen Esther class members.
Fidelitas Class of the Lutheran Sunday school met Tuesday at Miss Myrtle Laird’s home. Officers elected: Dorcas Brown president, Opal Nachbar vice president, Zenith Dame secretary treasurer. Members present included Virginia Straw Opal Nachbar Mildred Guntler Florence Davidson Mary Rahn Detens Brown Myrtle Laird Ruth Diller and Mrs HY Wenner. Virginia Straw to host next meeting in February assisted by Opal Nachbar.
The Evangelical church Home and Foreign Missionary society held its regular monthly meeting Tuesday at Mrs Elza Jacobs home. Members led prayers and read scriptures as Mrs Henry Damon led the lesson with helpers Mrs Chester Tate Mrs A G Tozer and Mrs Cora Hart. February gathering planned at Mrs Henry Damon on E Findla Street with Virgil Green as leader.
Last Thursday Mrs. Jerry Merrihew hosted W. B. A. members of the Maccabees for a chicken dinner followed by piecing comfort blocks. Guests included Mrs. Paul Pahl and children Millicent and Junior, Mrs. A. E. Copley and Ardella and Merle, and others.
Master Harrie Williams Jr will host 25 friends from 2 to 5 Friday afternoon for his fifth birthday anniversary. Orange and purple decorations will set the color scheme. The event includes games a luncheon and a cake with five red candies at the center of the table.
The Doreas Bible class of the Methodist Sunday school will hold a business and social meeting this evening in the League rooms of the church. The social committee consists of Mrs O L Shumate, Mrs George Gardner, Mrs E C Harshberger, Mrs Ed Gibbs, Mrs Katie Redman and Mrs L M Cook.
Mrs James Ogg hosted the Wimodausis club Tuesday with current events shared by members and needle work as the main pastime. Mrs W H Snyder attended as a guest and a 6 o'clock dinner was served. The next meeting will be in two weeks with Mrs L R Ashley.
Mrs KOOM Burson hosts the Fortnightly Club with roll call responses naming modern playwrights. The program features a talk on This Season's Plays, a solo by Mrs P CO Whaler, and a scene from a play by Mrs EF R Moser and Mrs L Wenner.
Mr and Mrs Gust Summit entertained at lunch on Sunday evening with Mr and Mrs G K Cole and son David, Miss Eva Earley, and Mr Kenneth Coldren, all of Vanlue.
Miss Chloe Thomas daughter of Mr and Mrs V Thomas northwest of town was elected to membership in the Book and Motor Honorary Society at Bowling Green Normal School. Prospective members are chosen for activity in fostering college spirit scholastic effort and service to the college community. Mass Thomas was among two girls and four boys selected from about six hundred students for membership.
Last Thursday W 1D McDonald’s driving horse was startled by a passing truck, jumped, and broke its leg. The animal had to be euthanized in a field on the Stief farm after Dr Harry Hosafros administered chloroform.
The Ladies Aid of the Methodist church met at Mrs George Ash home with Mrs DeC Henry in charge. After a song and prayer, business followed. A Feast of Days is planned the week before Easter and a bake sale at the rest rooms on Saturday February 14. Next meeting will be with Mrs E C Walker on February 25.
A fine dinner was prepared at Roger Lindsay's home Monday evening for his 17th birthday. Eight boys attended, including Kirtland Straw Richard Frederick Harold Tong Harold Graves Melford Culler Arthur Huston and Winford Oge. After dinner the guests gave a birthday gift and spent the evening playing cards and borroms.

Ida Shaw and Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Greene and family hosted dinner at the Steen home Sunday with guests Mr. and Mrs. Charles Shaw, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Ward and Milly, Mr. and Mrs. George Geoble and Leatrice Joy, plus C. M. Steen and children Evelyn and John and Mr. Grant Shrode. Mrs. Forest Bingle and children were afternoon callers.

Lieutenant Governor Charles H Lewis and Charles V Truax lead a program for the Buckeye Press Association annual meeting on February 5 and 6 on the Ohio State University campus. Speakers include Eloise Thrall of the Carey Times addressing Newspapers in the West Indies.

Tuesday morning about 6 30 Ed Young was crossing West street at Clay in front of a car. He turned into the street and was struck, knocked down but not run over, suffering a head gash and bruises. Roland Jacobs, a city mail carrier, aided him and took him to a doctor and then home.

Members will elect officers at the club meeting on January 22. The agenda includes routine business and a social hour at the end.
