Stork Delivers Three Newborns in Local Homes

A son arrived for Mr and Mrs Vern Huston on Saturday night. A 14 pound girl was born to Mr and Mrs Fred Poe on Sunday night. Mr and Mrs Charles de la Hamaide of McComb welcomed an eight pound daughter on January 4.

Obituary: Mrs. Olla Howell Hall Dies of Cancer

Mrs. Olla Alberta Howell Hall, 49, died Saturday at her mother's home in Upper Sandusky from cancer after years of illness. Born in Decatur, Illinois, she lived 44 years in Wyandot County and was married to David Hall in 1896. She leaves two deceased children and her husband. Funeral services were held Tuesday at 8:30 am in Upper Sandusky conducted by Rev. E. B. Nietz. burial in St. Paul’s Cemetery near Carey. Flowers from Frederick Street residents noted.

Missionary Society Meeting Adopts February Prayer Plan

The Woman's Home and Foreign Missionary Society met at Mrs George Perkins home. The group discussed creative forces in Japan and Bible Women’s Training School, with plans to observe prayer week in the last week of January ending with a February 3 missionary prayer program. The session adjourned to meet February with Mrs I C Copley.

Careys Citizens Help Send 1004 Clothing Items to Germany

Catholic Ladies of Columbia and local farmers including Salem township coordinated to pack 6 large boxes of clothing for Germany. The effort collected 1004 pieces and 69 pairs of shoes from men, boys, women, and girls, delivered Tuesday to the A C & Y RR Co for shipment via New York Port. Our Lady of Consolation Parish thanks all who assisted, especially generous local merchants.

Evangelistic Services Begin at Methodist Church

Revival campaign starts midweek at 7 30 pm with nightly meetings and 7 00 pm on Sundays. Pastor leads using Romans as the basis for addresses. Pageant Queen Esther's Choice Presented by Local Church

The Queen Esther Class of the Methodist Episcopal church staged a pageant titled Queen Esther's Choice Sunday night. Musical numbers opened the service as sixteen girls performed, earning praise for their effort. A $20 offering was collected for missionary work.

Carey Triumphs In Fast Paced Narrow Victory Over Sycamore

Carey came from behind to lead late but Sycamore reclaimed the edge before A Huston scored with 30 seconds left to seal a 25 24 win. Captain Tong and A Huston were Carey’s top scorers, totaling 23 of 25 points. Sycamore’s balanced team effort kept it close throughout.

Marion reports the death of its first incubator baby Donna Mae Schotte at City Hospital on Saturday. County health nurse Mrs dna Travis tried heroically to save the infant, who succumbed to extreme hypothermia after being in the incubator since death.

Kiwanis Luncheon Highlights Members and Plans

Fifteen members and two visitors attended the Kiwanis luncheon. Otto Pflueger spoke on Forestry and Resources in the Philippine Islands. A Farmers Day is planned for Feb 4 with C H Allen of Defiance addressing. The club plans monthly committee meetings and a community Christmas tree event. A ladies night trip to Findlay is set for Jan 23 and a speaker is promised for next Monday.

New Fire Truck Arrives For Carey

Careys new 1 4 ton Reo speed wagon arrived at 4 10 Wednesday afternoon. The red triple combination fire truck carries two 35 gallon chemical tanks 150 feet of chemical hose a 1000 foot hose bed two 16 foot ladders and a 35 foot ladder with minor equipment. It was purchased from the Oben Chain Boyer Co Logansport Ind driven by John Kandler who left Logansport yesterday morning. G D Morris of Oben Chain Boyer Co and R B Criswell Ohio Inspection Bureau will remain for a Standard Underwriters three hour test this forenoon. The O B pump rates 300 gallons per minute at 120 pounds engine pressure half that at 200 pounds and one third at 250 pounds.
