The Carey Teachers Association met in a business session on January 6 with Mr. Ralph Sampson presiding. Minutes were read and approved. discussions covered the County Teachers Association work, a dinner for county teachers on March 17 in Upper Sandusky, and a tickets committee.
The Carey Y-Teens held their first meeting of the year on Monday January 3 with Pegey Laird presiding A CARE package donation was announced A program titled What Is the Y W C A was presented by Marcella Phillips Shirley Hughes Sally Wright and Betty Sizemore The group closed with new songs and a Friendship Circle.
The Carey Hi Y club held a Monday evening meeting December 20 at 8 pm. They planned the Hi Y Christmas program for December 23 at 8 55 am and heard a Christmas story read by Mr Mulholland. Carols followed and the group closed with Hi Y ritual. They also joined Hi Y and Y Teens for Christmas caroling on Wednesday the 72nd.
Rev. OD Tueling of Muskegon Michigan will lead revival services January 18 to January 30 at Beech Grove United Baptist Church five miles southwest of Carey. Don B Bennett is pastor. Public invited to attend all services.
Mrs Maurice Gaster is named Financial Secretary of local review No 27 succeeding Mrs Sylvester Pahl who resigned. After February 1 all dues go to the new officer at regular Monday meetings or at 139 W North Street.
To Be Married in March in Fostoria. Miss Joan Carolyn Harler will wed Clarence Eugene Fililator of Fostoria, son of Mr and Mrs Edwin Pratt of Vanlue, formerly Carey residents. The couple's families announce the upcoming marriage.
Mercy hospital in Tiffin welcomed a 6 pound 13 ounce son for Mr and Mrs Clarence Pahl of E Findlay street born 1 50 pm Friday December 31 William Eugene. Findlay hospital saw a 9 pound 2 ounce son born to Mr and Mrs Ronald Roynon of Carey at 7 pm Saturday. Marion City hospital reported an 8 pound daughter born Saturday to Homer Darting formerly of Carey and Upper Sandusky. A 10 pound 13 ounce son born at 4 08 am Monday in Findlay hospital to Wendell Wentling of three miles southeast of Carey named Ronald Wayne. Hazel Dible is mother with Willig Dible of Adrian as grandmother. Ronald Wayne has a brother Willis and sister Melva.
A Marion social security office representative will speak at the Carey municipal building on Tuesday January 18 at 3 00 p m. Employers with any number of workers must pay social security taxes and file quarterly returns detailing employee names social security numbers and wages.
The Carey Band Mothers club will sponsor a dance on Friday February 4 at the school auditorium with music by Clayton Decker and his Red Shirts of Tiffin. Admission is 50 cents. features include round and square dancing, a cake walk, and refreshments sold by club members.
The Mary-Martha class of Christ Lutheran Sunday school will meet Monday evening January 17 at the home of Mrs. Melvin Hotelling on W North street. Assisting hostesses are Mrs. Ernst Kohmann, Mrs. Wade H. Koonz, Mrs. Roy Howard and Mrs. Kenneth Knowlton of Carey, and Mrs. Robert Morton of Tiffin.

Nearly 1.5 million American farm families contributed to the Christian Rural Overseas Program CROP during Christmas 1948. By Christmas Eve about 1000 carloads of grains meat dairy products and more moved to 10 ports as 24 states prepared trains. Michigan joined after Christmas seeking drives.

Mr and Mrs Richard Hayes and children have moved to a rental house northwest of Carey on Baseline road near Baseline second road. The Hayes home at Springville burned earlier, and the new dwelling is the third house east along the Baseline route after Route 23.
Rev Stanley Fritz installed the Kiwanis officers for 1949 at a meeting held last Monday. President was Rev Wade H. Koons with 1st vice president G W Snyder and 2nd vice president Cyril Baker. Secretary treasurer Dr R B Vogel and directors Arthur Wohlers Edwin Gottfried and Sidney Watkins named.
A gathering at the James Briggs home included Mr. and Mrs. Briggs their daughter Mrs. Mary Dull of Tiffin her son Lawrence Lyons of Waterloo Iowa and Lyons daughter Mrs Lucille Rohn and grandchildren George Terry and Gene Toledo. Afternoon photos were taken.
Mrs. Wallace Ruehle northeast of Carey will host the P. R. S club this Thursday afternoon at 2:00 oclock.
Ross A. Winter of Upper Sandusky is elected chairman of Wyandot County board of commissioners replacing Harry Keller. A. R. Cramer of Wharton joins Keller on a second term. Budget work begins for 1949 and county government is set to rise slightly with a 2.50 mill rate. Several officials gain new salaries under state law with nine officials receiving raises up to 30 percent. Newly elected prosecutor Harold Roth and coroner John M Thompson succeed prior officeholders.
The 21st annual convention of the state association of township trustees and clerks will meet at Deshler-Wallick hotel in Columbus from January 20 to January 22. Henry Kimmel, Salem township president of Wyandot county association, is named to the resolutions committee. About 35 to 40 Wyandot trustees and clerks are expected to attend.
At a Tuesday evening meeting Christ Lutheran Church re elected W Loughley E Mulholland and G C Wagner to three year terms on the church council. Other board members include George Snyder Glenn E Williams Supt G A Hartman Dr H R Wenner Perry McDanel G W Summit and Rev Water Koons.
A Carey board of education reorganization meeting elected Dr Harry Hosa Frogs president and Dan Weber vice president. Remaining members are Russell Gottfried Dale Frazier and Harry Bowman with Hosa Frogs and Weber exchanging leadership roles.
George Ash of 312 West Findlay Street Carey entered St. Vincent's hospital in Toledo for observation and treatment last Thursday. His wife and Mr. CCC Thome accompanied him and visited on Sunday. Ash became ill on New Year's Day.
The Dorcas Bible class of the Methodist Sunday school will meet Friday evening January 14 at 7 30 with Mrs F A Miller on East South Street. Mrs Henry Lortz and Mrs William Vaughn will assist as hostesses.
Mr and Mrs Vincent Krupp announce the engagement of their daughter Corrine Catherine of Columbus to J Arlin Schoenborn son of Mrs E M Schoenborn of 2181 Arlington Avenue Columbus. Schoenborn is a practicing attorney. Wedding date to be announced later.
Clyde Seebach of Forest was chosen to design a livestock judging arena at Wyandot county fairgrounds. At a Wednesday fairboard meeting with about 50 attendees, plans called for an 80 by 150 foot main arena with two wings for junior exhibits, completion before the 1949 county fair. S. R. Lawrence presided as fair board president.
The Wyandot County Farm Bureau reports 600 renewals from 1948, about 12 percent of last year’s membership, as January 18 is set for county wide roll call day. Edward W. Clausing leads, with district captains Frank O. Brown Rollie Hite Ira Summit and Earl Hunter coordinating efforts to recruit about 100 participating farmers.
Sales tax examiner will aid vendors in preparing reports for period ending December 31. Locations include Tiffin courthouse on January 24 26 28 29 and 31, Fostoria city hall on January 25, and Upper Sandusky courthouse on January 27. Bring statements or records for accurate reports.

Carey High Blue Devils end a six game slide with a 51-44 home win over Richwood marking their first Mid-State League victory this season. Longanecker and Risner led with 22 and 19 points as Carey controlled boards and built a 37-33 edge after three periods. Richwood’s Cheney scored 20 in a close game as Carey Reserve team also won 30-28.
