Death of David Chambers 76 in Liberty Township Ohio
David Chambers aged 76 died January 2 1910 at his home after a short illness pneumonia followed grippe. Born December 24 1838 in Liberty township Crawford county Ohio he lived near the death scene most his life. He married Sarah Ann Sargent April 26 1859 and had eight children five sons and three daughters with one daughter deceased. Survived by his wife, eight children, two brothers in Ithaca Michigan and fifteen grandchildren. Funeral January 5 at St John s church with Masonic service and pallbearers from local lodges. Rev L H Dickey officiated. He was noted for honesty, integrity and business acumen.

The Ninth Annual Carey Independent Farmers Institute will be held at Snyder's Opera House on Friday and Saturday January 14 and 15. Officers include President Adam Herbert, vice president W J Baker, secretary W J Newhard, treasurer Fred Powell, and executive committee C A Cooper Forest Phillips Raymond C Beebe and George F Shuman. Lecturers are F L Allen of Kinsman Ohio and D D Harsh of Malvern Ohio. Season tickets cost 20 cents general admission 10 cents. Friday evening tickets 20 cents with 5 cents for reserving season tickets. Reserved-seat sales start January 12 at 10 a m at Ewings drug store. Only reserved tickets will be accepted at Friday evening due to state crowding laws. The program covers morning, afternoon and evening sessions with music, recitations, and talks on farming topics including machinery on the farm, the county fair and soil.

At Monday's council session mayor Van Heyde and members Spencer Pahl Kear Kurtz Wenner and Constien approved bills including coal water and pipe charges and set a ditch project with the Big Four line. The mayor appointed E M Reinhart deputy marshal and Benjamin Kitzler fire chief for 1910 with confirmation. An ordinance for half year appropriations up to June 30 1910 was passed after suspending rules.
