Mr. and Mrs. Greeley Marshall of Carey returned home December 28 after a holiday visit with their son-in-law and daughter in Los Angeles. They then flew to Honolulu for six days of sightseeing and recalled Ft. Shafter palm trees and the old swimming pool. The couple had traveled west on November 30 by train and plan to stay the winter in Hobe Sound Florida.

Darrell W. Craft aged 18, son of Mr and Mrs Wardie Craft of 200 Dow Street, has enlisted in the U S Air Force for four years. He traveled to Columbus last Thursday for a physical exam and flew to Lackland AFB in San Antonio Texas for basic training after graduation from Carey High School last spring. He had been employed at Ross and Earl's Marathon Station.

Hendricks Appointed To Fill Unexpired Council Term
John Hendricks was appointed to serve the remaining two years of Wayne R. Terry’s term on the village council after Terry’s resignation became effective January 1. Hendricks, who previously declined re-election, will aid on the sewer plant expansion project. The entire Carey telephone system failed from 10 p.m. Friday to 1:30 a.m. Saturday after an underground 300-pair cable at 119 S. Vance Street was damaged. Water from recent rains penetrated the line as crews from Glenn Vanscoy and Ohio Fuel Gas Co worked. By 2 a.m. Saturday most subscribers had service restored and full operation returned by 1 p.m.
