Carol C Baum a brakeman on the Western Division of the Pennsylvania railroad suffered facial cuts and other injuries after fainting and falling from an engine at Crestline just after noon. He is the son of Crossing Watchman Nathan Baum of Bueyrus. The incident was reported in a Crestline dispatch to the Bucyrus News Forum dated Dec 30.
Fifty friends surprised L. V. Shall four miles southwest of Vanlue on the night after Christmas for his thirty first birthday and the tenth wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Shall. Games filled the hours and a sumptuous supper was served with many new presents given to the couple.

Clarence Powell brought an opossum to the park and Clarence Snyder donated two monkey faced owls, one of which died after striking the cage wire. The species, once thought rare in the state, is harmless and eats mice. The Baker-Ward reunion will meet at the park on Beech Grove this year, with the Stoll family also planning a park gathering on Gabor Day 1914.
Joseph F. Wonder resigns as health officer after election as Carey mayor. State health authorities thank him for years of service and name Charles Dame as his successor to continue the village health duties.
Norman Pratt sixty three brother in law of Mrs J Wonder of this city fell into an elevator shaft near a Toledo office building fracturing his skull His remains were taken to Findlay on Sunday and funeral services held at the Lee church near Vanlue Monday morning
A telegram announcing Mrs Adam Simonis death to George Thom was not delivered until the day of the funeral. He telegraphed Carey to hold beds as he rushed from New York City. the word arrived while the funeral party were at the cemetery.
