Carey Schools Lead State Film Order For 1943 44
Carey schools rank first in the state for film orders for next year with nearly full booking preference. The 1943 44 order, placed last October, follows Carey fourth in this year’s orders from hundreds of schools. Gym night starts Monday January 11 at the high school auditorium with activities for alumnae and young women 7 30 to 8 30 and high school girls 8 30 to 10. Betty Ice leads. Man Suffers Severe Hand Injury After Fall on Stairs
Sunday afternoon J F Wigger man slipped on cellar steps at his Findlay street home and cut a large gash severing an artery with the middle finger cut to the bone. He was taken to Findlay hospital treated by Dr H K Van Buren and Dr Hartman and later returned home as he improved.

Pvt Samuel C Newcomer is recovering slowly from injuries from a train wreck in Little Germany Texas on November 29. He suffered skull fractures a broken jaw ribs and acid burn from train batteries and had front teeth knocked out with others wired. He is at Brooke General Hospital San Antonio Texas and skin grafts were performed on his thumb and bay area. He thanks Carey and nearby residents for flowers cards and letters during Christmas. His wife Mrs Newcomer stays with him near the hospital.

Auxiliary Dorothey L. Plott of Carey has completed training at Fort Des Moines and is transferred to a WAAC post headquarters company for duty at a midwestern army post. WAAC units replace soldiers as post exchange workers, clerks, stenographers, drivers, dispatchers, bookkeepers and typists and operate independently with their own equipment and supplies.
