Carey Tragedy Leads to Christmas Mourning in 1907
In Carey on December 25 1907 William Fetter and Katie Teeple drowned after their buggy veered into the Sandusky River near Cherokee ford. The tragedy sparked days of search by townspeople, with bodies recovered and both families facing profound loss. Funeral services were held at Our Lady of Consolation Church and St. Marys Cemetery.

The annual election of officers of the C K of C took place in December at their Becklees hall. Frank Kitaler was named Senior President and J Mangett Financial Secretary. Joseph Weldon and others retired from trusteeship. Joseph Collet elected for three years. N Steinmetz retired as treasurer after twelve years. a walking cane was proposed in his honor. Twenty eight members attended.

Next Monday night the council will be reorganized with new members William Jacoby Henry Herbert H A Kear Charles Dame and Charles Hart replacing Snyder Chest through Gregg Kennerley and Frederick. William Pahl shifts from prebeno 2 council to the new body. Herbert and Dame have served previously. Mayor H G Chambers. Loren Stahl remains clerk. Ed Gibbé becomes marshal and Charles Brown succeeds M A Washburn as treasurer. S Harvey Bailey becomes assessor. Township trustees will be reorganized with G D Hickle and J W Powell replacing I M Kinney and Doctor Kear. Orrin Young continues as township clerk. The change occurs Saturday next.

City Council Approves Bills and Adopts 1907 Budget
The City Council met in regular session with members Stahl Kemberly Pahl Snyder Gregg and Chesebrough present Kennerly presiding in Felker’s absence. Bills approved include coal freight and labor charges totaling about 2 006 dollars from county treasurer. An ordinance for the 1907 fiscal year expenditures passed to second and third readings and was adopted and ordered published.
