Death in fuel truck crash near Carey and Wyandot County
David F. Smith 35 of Route 4 Upper Sandusky formerly of Carey died after his fuel oil truck collided with an automobile south of here about 3 45 p m Thursday February 20 1969. Driver Linda L Lowmaster 19 of Carey and passenger Lucille Schinds 36 were not injured. The tanker overturned and burst into flames. Coroner has not announced cause of death. Services held February 22 at John Stewart United Methodist Church with burial at Old Mission Cemetery.

Wyandot County coroner Dr. H. R. Rhodes ruled Mr. Sloman’s death an accident due to a neck fracture. The Wyandot County Sheriff's Department reported the investigation showed Sloman at a quarry area when his pickup truck backed up.
