George R. Constien donated two memorial paintings to the school. Both works are framed with brass memorial plates.
The Kiwanis club announces this year’s Junior Kiwanians who will attend meetings for one month. March selections are Robert Cole, Elaner Gardner, and James Patterson. April picks are Eugene Hoeps and Charles Buckland. May selections are Gerald Elchert and Paul Williams, sponsored by Mr. Hartman.
The group met Friday with a roll call answered in Spanish Estoy aqui. Minutes read, pins ordered for members, and plans to correspond with Spanish speaking youths abroad. A program featured Joan Sargeant Ray Yingling and Marvin Webb describing a board picture in Spanish and colors.

New lighting replaces an old problem in Carey schools with cold cathode fixtures. The study hall now has instant, abundant light and mirrors a growing trend in institutions. The update notes that many new buildings and notable sites like the House of Commons have adopted this lighting.
The Secret Sister Week concluded with a party at Miss Joyce Snyder's home the Y Teen sponsor. Girls wrote many friend names from the theme word friendship. The event featured other activities and an opening portion to the evening.
Nicholas Collet seventy five of north of Carey is hospitalized at Blanchard Valley for a fractured skull after falling from his car at about 10 30 a m Wednesday while the grease rack on the Carey Motor Service was being serviced. He stepped onto the car to wipe it off and lost balance. Goff’s ambulance carried him for X ray tests. He remained in a semi conscious state at 2 p m.
Sgt Maurice Goodman and wife Mrs Goodman and their 2 year old daughter Susie visited Rev Richard Hofman who is improving after a light stroke. The Goodman family arrived in New York City January 8 from the Far East where he served three years including Korea. They were en route to Portland Oregon.
At Bucyrus the Al Shan temple No 111 Dra matic Order of Knights of Khorasgan Findlay conferred the dramatic and the 8th order degrees Saturday evening in the Knights of Pythias hall. Rev John A Root of Carey received the 8th order and Raymond Smalley of Carey earned the full degree. A chicken supper was served at 7 pm. Attendees from Carey included William Keller Donald Keller James Sparks Llerschel High Melvin Risner R F Wright and Clarence Fucker.

In Columbus on Feb 18 State Senator Hildebrand urged Chesapeake and Ohio Railway President Tuohy to study restoring the Toledo Columbus line. Officials said losses forced cuts but if a near break even schedule could be found, service might be restored with a morning and an early evening train.

The radar picket destroyer conduct anti-submarine warfare and joint surface air operations in the Caribbean before returning to Newport, Rhode Island.

Red Cross mobile unit collected 111 pints last Thursday despite flu and colds. Church volunteers assisted in scheduling, registration, escorts, dining, kitchen, clerical work, and setup. Thanks extended to the church council, local telephone exchange, high school and seventh grade helpers, and all donors.

License plates will be available March 2 at Krupp's grocery located at 153 Muntele Street. Hours run from 9:30 am to 9:00 pm. Buyers must present both the certificate of title and the registration card to obtain a license.

Ann Hart, a junior in the University of Toledo College of Arts and Sciences, is among 165 students on the fall honor roll for averaging 2.6. Registrar Alina F. Markowski announced 39 full time Arts and Sciences students earned scholastic honors. Miss Hart is the daughter of Mr and Mrs Vern A Hart Carey.
Mr and Mrs Hart occupy an attractive Permastone ranch style house they built on the Ridge four miles northwest of Carey along Route 15. Mr Hart manufactures portable elevators for farm use.
The Third Order of St Francis announces a Day of Recollection at the Shrine of Our Lady of Consolation. It opens with mass and communion at 8 o clock and closes with benediction. Rev Arnold Dearing from Our Lady of Carey seminary will lead the talks for parishioners of Our Lady of Consolation and St Josephs Salem township.
The Priscilla Guild of Christ Lutheran Church will meet at 6 30 p m Tuesday in the church basement for a potluck supper and program. After a book review, a scrapbook will be made. Members should bring their own scissors.

The Carey Blue Devils, after a rough season, defeated St Joe Fremont 43 to 39 to reach a Fremont district clash with North Baltimore. Lyle Orlans, Skip Williams, Dick Williams and teammates led a resilient upset in a 1953 tourney, with Carey eyeing Wakeman in the next round.
Phyllis Jean Horn four year old daughter of Mr and Mrs Charles Horn was discharged from Crippled Children's hospital Toledo after months of polio treatment. Suffering from a right leg paralysis since September she has shown progress with ankle only remaining paralyzed and a small brace aiding position. She walks with a slight limp and was two at Halloween.
Mr and Mrs Clarence Elehert returned home Thursday evening from Houston Texas after four weeks visiting their son in law Leo Leonard and daughter Linda They called on Dr and Mrs Robert J Lemons of Nederland Texas who asked about Carey friends Mr Elehert spoke with Robert Flilty of Houston and Tom Hilty of Carey by phone Before returning they spent Monday and Tuesday in New Orleans attending Mardi Gras.
Mrs Lavina Jacob rents the recently vacated Lighthouse room to Tony Troiano who expects to open a barber shop there about the first of March. He has been operating a shop in New Riegel.
