Our Lady of Consolation Church CYO girls volleyball team captured the championship in the Tiffin Deanery tourney. They defeated Fostoria 15 9, 9 15, 15 12 in the opener and beat Upper Sandusky 15 8, 16 14 in the final. Regular season record was 9 wins and 3 losses.

Man Drank Poisonous Mixture After Despondency
A man charged four years earlier with breaking and entering a Kentucky gas station turned himself in to police. Floyd Hall of North Street said his case was dismissed but he drank a powder and liniment mix due to despondency and was taken to Wyandot Memorial Hospital after feeling ill.

Annual GHS Latin Banquet At Carey High School
Carey High School hosts its annual Roman banquet on Tuesday March 2 at 630 pm with Latin I and II students performing skits and delivering a program themed Fun with Latin. Students, parents and staff will see toga and laurel costumes, cafeteria dining, and lanterns and scrolls decorating the hall. Eighty five students participate in readings and scenes from classical stories while Latin Club officers and French students assist in serving and setup.

Carey Police Log Details Three Week Accidents
The Carey Police Department reports three accidents in the past week with no arrests. An accident on E Findlay Street at 9 47 a m Tuesday involved a 1964 Mercury driven by Hany Jadwin and a 1964 Pontiac driven by Mrs Grover Snyder. Damage to the Mercury was $80 and to the Pontiac $20. A second incident on E South Street at 11 29 p m Thursday involved Richard Smiley whose car slid and struck a parking meter, a laundromat window and a washer causing $200 in damage plus $20 to a 1960 Chevrolet tire and rim. A third crash on North Street damaged a telephone pole and injured passenger Danny Karg. Mickey Hettick drives a 1959 Pontiac with icy conditions blamed. Wrecker picked up the car and damage totaled $500.
