Seniors will take a tuberculosis test given by Dr Naus of Upper Sandusky on Monday afternoon. The school will dismiss Thursday and Friday due to rationing. High school girls assist with registration. A mouse theme debut entertained the assembly with D A R members watching. A general knowledge test ran Wednesday from 1 38 to 3 30 with dismissal and results pending.
Carey boys and men aged 16 to 38 may enroll in a national basic military training course sponsored by the United States government and run by the American Legion. The 12 week program requires 3 hours once weekly and awards ratings for induction credit. Register at Shafer's garage Krupp's harness shop or Scoarse's barber shop between February 26 and March 8.

War Ration Book No 2 registration began Wednesday at the high school auditorium and will run through the week. The schedule: Thursday February 25 from 10 am to 6 pm for names F to M. Friday February 26 from 10 am to 5 pm for N to T. Saturday February 27 from 10 am to 3 30 pm for U to Z. Bring forms and War Ration Book No 1 for all household members. count and declare all rationed foods on form No R-1301.
The Garey Community club hosted its annual birthday program in Methodist church parlors with about 60 attendees. Mark Karr led the welcome as Rev B L Lee and Mrs Verna Lane of Nelsonville spoke on guidance for teachers. Rita Brown and John S Welsh provided music, and committee names were announced for the March gathering.
The infant son born February 20 to Mr. and Mrs. Darrel Kidwell was baptized Sunday at 1 09 PM in Our Lady of Consolation Church. Fr Ambrose Finnegann officiated with Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Messmer as sponsors. The baptism occurred on the wedding anniversary of his great aunt and uncle Mr. and Mrs. Messmer.
Aux Corrine C Krupp daughter of Mr and Mrs Vincent Krupp route 2 Carey was among the first auxiliaries chosen as instructors in the administrative classes at the 2nd WAAC training center Daytona Beach Florida She began her new duties Monday.
In South America Mr and Mrs F H Lab of Carey report a letter from their son Pvt Patrick Louis Lab of the United States Army stating he has arrived safely in South America.
The Luther League of Christ Lutheran Church plans a mystery play titled The Hobgoblin House to be staged at the high school auditorium with a date to be announced. Local audience urged to watch for details and admission information.

The 1943 Red Cross War Fund drive starts March 1 with a citywide house to house solicitation in Carey. Quotas include 2600 for Carey 285 for Crawford township 200 for Ridge township and 11300 for Wyandot county with all gifts due at once. Air raid wardens will lead canvassing in their districts and a free film will be shown Friday night at the courthouse in Upper Sandusky to explain the drive. A follow up meeting is set for Monday at the municipal building.
The Moose Hall hosts a public dance to aid Baril Green Post 344 American Legion in funding a basic military training program for men aged 16 to 38. Equipment costs about 460 dollars. government aid is unavailable, so funds come from local posts. Rebecca Jean Lear performs dancing and tumbling, Buckeye Entertainers provide music, 9 to 12 p m, 10 cent admission, proceeds go to the Legion post.
An air raid dim-out on Tuesday night prompts an on site warden to instruct a brightly lit house to switch off lights. A baby born during the outage weighs 70 pounds and is born to Mr and Mrs Edward Jacoby.
The Tiffin city council voted unanimously to stay on Eastern War Time, aligning the courthouse, county offices, and Upper Sandusky schools with the same time. The Ohio legislature had moved clocks back one hour statewide, but local actions maintain the original schedule for now.

Wyandot county fair board voted unanimously to hold a county fair September 14 15 16 and 17 with state board approval. Secretary Harry Hudson of Upper Sandusky attended and said gasoline rationing will not prevent attendance.

The Wyandot County civilian defense program announces March 27 evening sessions on gas characteristics from 7:30 to 10:30 with Carl Miller and Dr. H. K. Van Buren leading lectures. If well attended, plans include fire defense and general instruction to grow certified trainees from 35 to at least 100.
The Wyandot County Health and Tuberculosis Association funds a school patch testing program for 1st and 12th graders during the first two weeks of March. Parents must sign permit cards sent home. no child will be tested without a signed permit. Tuberculosis is a germ disease caused by the tubercle bacillus, not inherited, and is curable and preventable though not by vaccination.
A Moose initiation involving Carey and Fostoria candidates followed the regular lodge meeting in Fostoria Tuesday evening. About 30 candidates were initiated with Carey supplying most participants and the Fostoria team displaying strong state competition. Past Governor P J Pahl spoke on lodge procedure as lunch and entertainment flowed after the event.
The infant Robert Edward Fleere was baptized at Our Lady of Consolation Church with Fr Joseph Herp officiating. Sponsors were Miss Rita Brown and Cpl Leo Vaughn. Robert weighed 7 pounds 10 ounces and was born at Findlay hospital. Pvt Fleere serves in the U S Army at Sioux Falls S D and Mrs Fleere, formerly Mary Louise Vaughn, stays with her parents east of Carey.
The Soul Winner's class of Memorial Evangelical Sunday School will hold the February session in the church basement Saturday night at 8 o'clock.
