Powell Couple Celebrate Fortieth Wedding Anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Powell celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary last Thursday at their home west of town. A four course dinner was shared with children and grandchildren. guests included CG Powell and sons Wayne and Allen, F S Powell and son Dean, D J Powell and son Paul, and Misses Mary Coretta Jennie Powell with Mrs. Marty Whitehurst. The couple wed February 18, 1875 at high noon on the Fred Shuman summit, officiated by Rev J M Dustman. The day featured intense cold and a foot of snow, contrasting with springlike weather of the prior Thursday. The Times extends congratulations and wishes for many more anniversaries.

Death of nine month old Alice Elizabeth Thom
The nine month old child of Mr and Mrs J Thom died Friday evening after lifelong illness. Relatives and friends escorted the remains to Our Lady of Consolation Church for services by Rev Father Anthons and burial at St Marys Cemetery. Pallbearers were four little girls, with many Yost family members among the attendance from Fostoria New Reigel Alvada and Kirby.

Tramp Attacks Girl. Suspects Appear Before Mayor
An eleven year old girl was assaulted by a tramp near Ernest Fox’s farm as she walked home from parochial school. The assailant fled when approached by Mr and Mrs Bachar. The girl, unharmed aside from torn clothing, identified no suspect. Forest hounds tracked a man to Vanlue before losing him. arrests were made but identification failed. The community thanks local friends for support during a family illness and death.

Death of Young Married Man Harry Greno
Harry Greno died at his father’s North Street home last Friday afternoon from Bright’s disease. Born February 18, 1885 in Arlington, he was thirty and married to Alva Newman on October 24, 1906. He spent most of his life in Carey and had recently lived on a farm in Bindlay with his wife’s family. Survived by wife, both parents, four sisters Della Faber Mary Landon Nellie Puchta Mary Wine, and brother Isaac Greno. Funeral held Sunday at United Evangelical church at one with Rev. De Vaux officiating. Ridge quartet singing. Burial in Neller Cemetery west of town. Pallbearers Isaac Greno William Faber Charlie Landon Clint Puchta Carl Newman Charles Newman.

Thirty six members of Lt Rangers class of young men in the ME Sunday school gathered at his home on Main Street. They surprised him on his birthday with a dozen friends and officers, sharing refreshments prepared by Mrs Ranger. The class gave him a set of power tools he had long desired.
