Entertains Lima Speech Contest Participants at Lima South High

Miss Thelma Clagett's class sent students to Lima South high school for speech contests last Saturday. Helen Dyer and Richard Doran competed in humorous reading while George Hartman Jr and others joined the debate on United Nations Federation.

Nurse Miss Bernadine Courtad Leads School Eye Testing

County health nurse Miss Bernadine Courtad completed an eye testing project across Carey school grades. She found many pupils needing examinations and parents agreed to provide medical attention for correcting vision problems. The Kiwanis club Underprivileged Children committee, led by Howard Snyder, sent six pupils to a program.

Robert Kitzler Named Deputy Registrar in Carey

Robert Kitzler was appointed deputy registrar to succeed Neleta Smith in Carey. 1949 automobile license plates go on sale March 1 at Jenet and Kitzler plumbing shop 205 He Findlay Street. Deadline for new plates is March 31. Sales tax stamps still available at Smith's Shoe Store. March and April hours are 9 to 11 a.m. 1 to 6 p.m. and 7 to 10 p.m.

John Craun Takes Over Meat Dept at Cy's Super Market

John Craun, formerly with Arrow Super Market in Columbus, assumes management of the meat department at Cy's Super Market. He began his new duties Monday. The Crauns plan to move to Carey soon and are former Carey residents.

Eye Burned at Lime Plant Incident

J. D. Briggs of High street suffered a second degree burn to the pupil of his right eye after hot lime splashed into it while he worked at the National Lime and Stone Co plant on Wednesday afternoon February 9.

Denny Long Wins Prize In Safety Legion Pilot Magazine

Families move to farm near Carey and Crawford

Mr and Mrs George Ball and family moved Saturday to the farm 1% miles northeast of Carey on route 609, which they recently purchased from Solomon Ruffing. Mr and Mrs Ruffing moved February 11 to the house on W North Street they bought earlier. Mr and Mrs Andrew Williams and Mr and Mrs Everett Holt moved from E Findlay Street to a 53 acre farm on route 23 near Crawford, purchased last fall from Mr and Mrs Rall.

WBA Review Holds Meeting and Plans February Events

Davis to Deliver Wyandot Hog Improvement Banquet Address

John C. Davis, farm editor of the Cleveland Plain Dealer, will give the main address at the Wyandot County Hog Improvement Association annual meeting and banquet on Tuesday evening March 1. He recently toured the Bahama Islands and speaks statewide. The First English Evangelical Church of Nevada marked its 90th anniversary February 20 with a worship service and a history recounting the church’s origins. Rev. A B Kirtland organized the congregation in 1859 after early services in a log school house.
