A Monday morning chapel presented by alumni under Lewis Allen featured singing led by the student body with Miss Agnes Pahl on piano. Lucille Montague read scripture followed by a Cuba talk by Ralph Pontius noting government climate and products.

High School March 14 Activity Night Features

An activity night will be held March 14 in the high school auditorium featuring band and orchestra selections directed by Mr. Hutchinson and Miss Warren, a one act play directed by Miss Smith, a typing contest, physical education and F F A features, science items, selections by the boys and girls glee clubs under Miss Finley, and refreshments by the home economics department supervised by Miss Heath.

Counterfeit $5 Bills Tied to Same Printing Press

Local authorities hold a counterfeit $5 bill awaiting investigation while another bill remains with a farmer near the city. Both notes share serial number B79651869A and are described as poor forgeries with flimsy paper and minor size differences. The chief notes that counterfeit notes from the same press often carry identical serials.

Mrs Ralph Roller Moved After Critical Illness

Mrs Ralph Roller, previously critically ill at her home on N Vance Street, was transported by Bristol and Kear's ambulance to Findlay Hospital. Doctors think an operation may be necessary.

Mournful obituary for Miss Rose Riester in Carey

Miss Rose Riester, aged 68, died Monday at her home on N Vance Street after a stroke and prior influenza. Funeral Mass will be at Our Lady of Consolation with Fr Paul Vollrath officiating. Interment at St Marys cemetery. Pallbearers listed. survived by two sisters and a brother.

Ossage, 67, Hardware Dealer, Dies in New Washington

Barney Ossage died Monday at 7 p.m. at his New Washington home of apoplexy. Born April 3, 1866 in Glandorf, he retired recently after running a hardware business. Survived by wife Carrie Pessefall, daughter Mrs. P. J. Koepfer, three brothers and three sisters. Funeral Thursday 9:30 a.m. at St Bernard's New Washington and Friday 9 a.m. at Glandorf. burial in Glandorf Catholic Cemetery. He previously owned a hardware store in Alvada.

Knight of Pythias Doings Confer Second Rank

Truck Burned near Napanee in rubber pad hauler fire

The International freight truck and trailer owned by A. E. Donelson burned Monday around 3 30 near Napanee Indiana. Donelson and Vernet Ruffing were aboard hauling rubber stair pads to Chicago. Fire started from a broken gas line. discovery came when the engine stopped and a crackling noise was heard. Loss partly insured.

Zangara Sentenced to 80 Years for Cermak Attack

Giuseppe Zangara, described as a hater of kings and the rich, wounded Mayor Anton Cermak and four others in Miami before the attempted assassination of President-elect Franklin D. Roosevelt. He has been sentenced to eighty years imprisonment.

Local team loses at Tiffin in Big Four bowling

Christian Mothers Host Supper and Dance at Catholic Hall

Card Party Success At Carey High Alumni Event

The Carey High alumni association hosted a Friday card party in the school auditorium. About 24 was cleared with twenty four tables in play. Prizes went to Miss Louise Van Buren and Miss Mildred Gunther for high contract, and to Mr and Mrs Richard Frederick for second. Auction winners were Miss Charlotte Montague and Miss Hilda Jacob first, and Mr and Mrs D A Kingsmore second. Pinochle prizes went to Junior Frederick and Bernard Kitzler first, and Mr and Mrs Samuel Gunther second.

Appendicitis Operation Delays News From Fostoria

Mrs W R Markley was called to Fostoria Tuesday after her son Ralph underwent an emergency appendicitis operation at the local hospital Monday night at 9 o clock. He had worked all day and fell ill suddenly as the appendix was near bursting. Mr Markley is progressing as well as can be expected.

Hand Injury Astonishes Ton Community

Mrs Addison Rickle visited Wharton on Wednesday to see her brother and sister in law Mr and Mrs Heart Brashares. Their 14 year old son Dwight was injured Saturday while playing with other boys. He fell from a bench pinning his hand leading to a dislocated small finger a broken hand bone and a splintered finger bone. An operation by Dr Hartman of Findlay will be performed when possible.
