A crowd attends a Sunday ceremony for Boy Scout Week on February 11 at Christ Lutheran Church. Scout Master Willard Barth Assistant Wendell Myers Life Scout Mike Myers Bob Stombaugh and Cub Master Charles Buckland present. Several new members registered and about three hundred people honor the event.

At 9 19 pm on February 15 Mabel Louise Yates 204 Dow Street attempted a left turn into a driveway on Ash Street. Virginia Hoenig 49 Fairfield Ave Tiffin tried to pass Yates and the collision caused about 200 dollars damage to Yates vehicle and 100 dollars to Hoerig. Officers Swartz and Orians investigated Hoerig was charged with improper passing.
Mr and Mrs Casey of East Findlay Street reported a robin in their back yard Sunday February 18. The item invites readers to report any other robins seen as a possible sign of an early spring.

The Carey Kiwanis Club held a noon meeting February 19 at Bowl-Era Lanes with National Future Farmers of America Week observance. Carl Cupp presented Brad Roof and other local FFA officers who explained club history and FFA conventions amid George Snyder's upcoming Ladies Night program.
Pfc. Ronald E. Kirian son of Mr and Mrs Charles M Kirian Rural Route 1 serves with the 4th battalion 44th Artillery United States Army. The battalion traces to 1917 as the 6th Artillery Company assigned to coastal defense of New York Harbor. It arrived Inchon Korea December 3 1960 and began displacement to tactical sites. The unit became operational in February 1961 and was reorganized under the Delta Series TOE and General Order 1 HQ United States Army.
Brownie troop 92 hosts a Valentine gathering with 54 attendees. Red heart pins decorate girls and leaders amid a flag ceremony and attendance, followed by games cookies and Kool Aid on a red candlelit table. Carey Conservation Club hosts a dance on February 24 from 9:30 PM to 12:30 AM with members and friends for $1 per person and music by Moonlighters. A Trophy Trap Shoot follows on Sunday morning February 25 for members only. Local notices report community changes and personal news including hospital stays and moves.
President Fawcett announced 664 students named for the 11th annual President's Scholarship Recognition Dinner February 28 at 6 p.m. in the Ohio Union. Medallions will be awarded as the theme Arts in Action guides the evening, funded mainly by OSU Development Fund and Alumni Association.
Miss Lynn Cooper earned a competitive I rating in piano at the Ohio Music Teachers Association auditions held at Fir College. Adjudicator Alsbrook Smith, a college professor, awarded the rating, which qualified her for Northwest District auditions at the Toledo Museum on February 11. A recital at the Museum of Art follows next Sunday with other I rating students.
Carey Blue Devils beat Mohawk 60 to 49 to finish the regular season with a 9-9 record. Mike Jacoby led Carey with 21 points, Larry Cole 17, and Bob Mullholand 15 while Mohawk’s Bogard scored 18. Carey reserves defeated Mohawk reserves 56-37 to end the year. They move into post season play against Hardin Northern on Friday January 23 at Kenton School gym.
The post office will be closed tomorrow for Washington's Birthday. There will be no window or delivery service. The Holt schedule will govern pickup from collection boxes.
A bake sale will be held on Saturday February 24 from 9 a.m. at Richardson's Electric, sponsored by the EUB Youth Fellowship. Proceeds support church projects and local needs.
