Monday night February 12 the F H A sponsored a Valentine dance with a swing band for the first time this year. A short program and games were enjoyed, then refreshments and square dancing followed. the event was greatly enjoyed by all.
Twenty two senior boys and girls traveled to Upper Sandusky on Friday February 9 to take the Senior Scholarship Test covering English history mathematics and science. The list of participants includes Faye Adelsperger Ferne Adelsperger James Brown Laurell Dible James Hall June Hill Gerald Hunter Stanley Hunter Sally Jaster Mariannea Roche Jane Mangett Lou May Leah Orians Marilyn Schmuck Marilyn Schlachter George Schwemley Mary Schultz Donald Taylor Ronald Van Buren John Wedge Kenneth Wenner and David Yingling.
The Carey High School Band completed its tour with an evening performance at Nevada High School and an assembly the next morning. The program included overtures from The Student Prince and A Egyptian serenade Amina, a swing number in B flat, narration of Nell the Farmer's Daughter, and flute solo Little Brown Jug. The Swing Band debuted at the Valentine Dance on February 12 as Melody Masters provided the evening’s music.
A large portion of Wyandot County students from first through twelfth grade were vaccinated last Monday. Over two thousand children received the smallpox vaccine through the county health department in an effort to prevent an outbreak and keep the community safe amid the disease.
All women of Christ Lutheran Church are urged to attend this Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock as a Wyandot Memorial Hospital guild unit will be formed at the church.
The W. B. A. will meet Friday evening at 8:30 o clock in the Moose hall. A potluck and social will follow the lodge meeting. Attendees should bring their own table service.
The Carey Community Institute will host a two day event February 22 and 23 with merchandise and money donations totaling from area merchants including Bernard Furniture Paul Burson and many Carey stores. Door prize tickets will be given in afternoon sessions to younger students.
Miss Hisae Shirishi, Japanese exchange student at Bowling Green State University, will be guest speaker at First Methodist Church Lenten Family Night supper tonight. She plans Christian work in Japan after graduation. supper starts 6:80 with program around 7:30. Families bring covered dishes and service. program open to all.
Cpl. Dale R. Nye and Pvt. Charles C. Clark Jr. have updated addresses. Nye is assigned to Has. Plat. A. P. O. 777, New York. Clark is posted to Camp Stoneman, California with Battalion details.
A compact roster lists Pvt Leon Krupp of the 84th Tank Battalion Fort Knox Kentucky and Pvt Leroy Caudill Jr of Ordnance Ham Co Fort Bragg North Carolina along with Pfc William Detwiler of Reading Municipal Airport Reading Pennsylvania.
Carey opened tournament play with a 83 52 loss to top seeded Sandusky St Marys. Key moments included Dave Yingling and John Wedge scoring early but St Marys height and scoring bursts pushed the lead to 35 15 at halftime and 63 51 entering the final period.
The Monday Jaycee gathering met in the K of P hall basement with guests Thomas Temple William Howard and state vice-president Robert Crawford of Findlay in attendance He welcomed Coyt A Yeoman into the organization presented him with a JayCee pin A magic demonstration by John Welsh Jr and George Jacobs followed business talks Lunch was provided by the refreshments committee Allan Smith Jr was noted.
The Carey Kiwanis club met in the private dining room of Gibbins Restaurant with John Greer Wyandot county welfare director as guest speaker. He reported relief problems in the county and the club will work through the county relief agency to aid deserving families. A publicity committee will report suggestions on the proposed Carey flower to the Junior Chamber of Commerce.
1951 automobile licenses must be in use by April 1 and will go on sale March 1 at Krupp's Grocery, 153 S. Muneie street. Truck license applications available March 1 to March 15 and driver's licenses also sold there. Open 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
The Frances Willard meeting of the W C T U postponed earlier will be held Friday afternoon February 23 at 2:00 o'clock with Mrs. W B Smith at Memorial Evangelical United Brethren parsonage.

The Carey C. Y O basketball team defeated Findlay Fibres 45 42 and edged New Riegel C Y O 64 460 on the Catholic hall court. Management plans a semi pro tournament at Catholic Hall Carey on March 3 4 11 18 with about 10 teams already signed including New Riegel Weaver's Market and Carey C Y O. Thirteen Wyandot county residents reported to the Toledo center Monday for physical examinations under the draft law. The group included Wilfred A. Thiel Dale F Moll Richard P. Morris Calvin J. Pever Richard E. Quail David F. Wehrs Harold P. Caudill William A. Pell Vincent P. Bakies Richard A. Wilson Raymond Markley Jr Francis E. Pfleider and John L. Mason.

Carey Junior High of Clyde earned a runner up trophy after a 30 25 defeat by Sycamore last Saturday. Aiden McKinnon led Carey with 7 points, Jim Jacoby added 5, and Knowlton Snook Orians and Billock each scored for the Blue Devils. Sycamore’s L Shell led with 10 points, V Shell and Weaver added six each.
Dr Walter Zaugg of Bowling Green State University will speak Friday afternoon and evening at the Carey Community Institute, replacing the previously announced Thursday sessions. The safety film A Closed Book moves to Thursday afternoon, and the amateur show to Thursday evening. The Thursday evening entertainment is now Friday evening with Zaugg's address. Exhibits in agriculture and home arts are planned with entries due by 4 pm Thursday.
Articles of incorporation issued in Columbus last week creating The Creeger Implement Company of Carey authorized to issue 500 shares no par value stock. Incorporators listed are Robert W. Creeger Carey G iB Sutermaster and Paul R. Ebel of Tiffin. Separate corporate entity for the Carey store separates from the Creeger Implement store in Tiffin. No changes in management or policy expected.
A regular meeting of the Carey Farmers' Community club is set for Monday evening February 26 at the K of C hall. Committees in charge include Program led by J A Vaughn Raymond Schindler and W A Vaughn refreshments by Walter Klein Herman Derr and William Pontius. Members urged to attend to assist with arrangements for the annual Ladies Night on March 26.
The American Legion Auxiliary will hold a regular meeting Monday February 26 at 8 00 in the Legion hall. Members are asked to bring old silk hose neckties and cancelled sales tax stamps. A program on Americanism will be presented by Mrs J A Vaughn.
The Dorcas Bible class of the Methodist Sunday school will meet at 2 p m Thursday March 1 with Miss Della Gilliland assisting hostesses Mrs Arthur N Stevens and Mrs F M McCarley will be assisting hostesses.
