Greater Carey Centennial plans announced at high school

The Greater Carey Centennial committee formed and signed a contract with John B. Rogers Production Co. of Fostoria at a school meeting. July 6 to 12 will host church services, reunions, parades, a historical pageant, rides, and concessions as Carey prepares its largest homecoming yet. Joe Newhard chairs the organizing group with J F Dible and others serving. Courtad was authorized to sign concession contracts.

Community Club Hosts Valentine Party for Members and Guests

The Farmers' Community Club held a Valentine dinner at Christ Lutheran Church with 53 attendees. Orville Cook led the program, Dr. T. Benton Peery offered the invocation, and John Romig, home from Brazil, spoke as an IFYE delegate. The Carey Philharmonic Society staged Little Red Riding Hood with Mrs. Heck as narrator and Mrs. Bixler in the title role, joined by several women as performers.

Boy Hit by Icicle Receives Stitches After Fall

Eight year old Gary Allen Collins was struck on the head by a falling icicle while playing outside on Monday. He required three stitches to close the wound. He is the son of Mr and Mrs Garner Collins of S Vance Street.

Carey FFA Week Highlighted By Local Chapter Activities

The Carey FFA chapter joins national observances during National FFA Week from February 22 to March 1. A theater window display is planned. the 17 members pursue rural leadership, citizenship, and agricultural careers. Officers include Harold Hackworth president and Joe Higgins sentinel with advisor Carl E. Cupp guiding the chapter.

Open House At Porcelain Products In Carey

Public invited to open house at the Carey plant of Porcelain Products Inc. on Friday and Saturday to tour the plant and new office building. Tours start at the main entrance with machines running only Friday afternoon. hours 9 30 am to 8 pm Friday and 9 am to 11 30 am Saturday. Calvert's Tiffin Senecas defeated Carey 90 to 72 in the last regular season tilt. Gil Farley and Bob Winterhalter scored 41 and 43 respectively for Calvert, while Tom Greer led Carey with 24 points. Carey reserves finished 9-9 after a 47-41 loss to Tiffin Calvert.

Exchange Students Share Views At Methodist Family Night

Two exchange students will speak at the February 26 Family Night supper and program at the Methodist Church. John Romig will discuss life in Brazil while Miss Barbara Grote of Patenborn Germany will share perspectives on family life in the United States. Grote lives with the Paul Brown family of Sycamore and is a Sycamore High School senior. A children’s motion picture program is planned.

Lawrence Vogel Accepts Insurance Underwriter Post

Lawrence Vogel a Bowling Green State University graduate of business administration left Carey Friday for Cleveland where he accepted a position as a student underwriter with the Insurance Company of North America. He will train six months in Cleveland and three months at the head office in Philadelphia visiting his parents Dr and Mrs Ralph B Vogel before departing.
