The Research Club held a Friday evening mask party at a member's home. Mrs Speaker and Mrs C W Brayton led vocal numbers after old songs. Miss Millie Payne read a paper on Canadian Prose Writers and Mrs C A Carpenter spoke on Canadian Poets. Refreshments followed. next meeting set with Mrs Albert Adelsperger on February 26.
The 0 I C class of Evan gelical Sunday School enjoyed a Friday evening at Miss Mabel Wonder's home. Girls arrived with dolls or toys for a kid party. Miss Athea Rothgeb won for the most childish makeup. Contests and games filled the night followed by dainty refreshments served by a committee of Misses Leta Lindower No McKee Lucille Ferkins Martha Grady and Mabe Wonder.
Last Friday a group of friends surprised Pauline Wagner on her 14th birthday with tricks games and cards. State hostess Mrs. N J Wagner assisted by Mrs John Wiggerman served a delicious lunch. Guests included Evelyn Catherine Lorine Wiggerman Margaret Helen Wanner Lucille Derr Sophia Lazza Elizabeth Long Gertrude Orians and Bernard Lavern Robert Nicholas Wagener.
A group of friends gathered Tuesday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John S. Fox southeast of Carey. They enjoyed euchre, music, and conversation with refreshments. Attendees included Mr. and Mrs. Henry Grine, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Elchert and son Franklin, John Jacoby, Joseph Jacoby, and Thomas Jenot.
Mrs Nora Brashares hosted a Sunday dinner honoring her father Cyrus Sloman aged 70 and her brother in law L G Ranger whose birthday falls in February. Guests included Mr Pare, Mr and Mrs Ranger, Mrs Mary Youngpeter, Mrs Brashares and her son Voyle.
Mrs. Clark arranged a delightful surprise for Hy E Clark on his birthday at their home northeast of town. Guests included Avéry Dysinger and family, Denver Dysinger, George Dysinger, Scott Dysinger, Evelyn Dysinger, Geraldine Dysinger, Geo Lamb of Findlay, Russell McClain and children Donald and Gene of Kirby, and TB Harshberger with son Harold of Wharton.
Mrs George Newhard hosted guests including Mrs Crey Spencer of Findlay Mrs Walter Myers of Upper Sandusky Mrs FD Hurd Mrs J G Loy Mrs Edward Riester Mrs KL Leonard Mrs Harold Houke and Mrs W N Johnson at a gathering last Thursday evening.
Mrs Reinhart was delightfully surprised Tuesday evening at her home on North Vance Street. Guests included Mrs Clara Straw Misses Jessie Hortense Roll Misses Rose Frances Riester and Miss Edith Fetter who brought refreshments and the evening passed most pleasantly.
Mrs. R. G. Spencer hosted the Tuesday Bridge Club with guests including Mrs. Homer Wonder Mrs. Flossa Washburn Mrs. K. L. Leonard Mrs. S. C. Harsh Mrs. I. L. Culler Mrs. W. L. Lindsay and Mrs. C. B. Dabney A 6 o'clock dinner was served.
Mrs. Urban Wangier hosted a Sunday dinner with Mr and Mrs Jacob Wangier and Mr and Mrs William Brandt and children Joseph and Rosemary from north of Carey. Also present were Miss Hildah Wangier of Toledo and George Kirchner of Shelby.
The Luther League held a social Tuesday evening in the parish hall at Christ Lutherans church. Games were played and refreshments served. hosts were Mr and Mrs H L Wenner and Mr and Mrs Earl Moser.
Mr and Mrs I E Copley hosted Sunday dinner guests four miles southwest of town Rev E L Lee of Findlay Mrs Cora Hart and daughters Mary Elizabeth and Anna Catherine of Carey attended.
Miss Berg and Leona Lanker of Arcadia hosted Sunday dinner at the country home of Mr and Mrs Fred Dible with guests Miss Hester Turner Miss Nellie Sammet Miss Anna Margaret Pipes and Harry Hudson.
The Wonder Bible class of the Lutheran Sunday school met for a social at the home of Mrs A A H Kennerley on Tuesday evening.
Mr and Mrs W J Jefferson entertained Mr and Mrs B O Reynolds of Findlay at 6 o'clock dinner Sunday evening in a cordial social event that showcased local hospitality.
The 18th Farmers Institute outlines sessions including a discussion by WW O Van Sickle on pork profitability and a welcome by Rev E S Cole. Afternoon events feature a cafeteria lunch by Home Economics and music by the High School Glee Club. Evening shows include Looking Over The Fence and a men's quartet led by W O Van Sickle of Findlay College.
An 8 pound 2 ounce daughter was born Sunday to Mr and Mrs Wallace Nye. A daughter arrived Feb 10 at St Ann s Hospital Dayton to Mr and Mrs A J Werner formerly Florence Pahl. A daughter to Mr and Mrs Ray Sanford in Jackson township Friday. Sons to Harold Rife and Ralph Morehart on North Seventh street. Sons to Elmer Bardon and Kenneth Sterner Sunday. A son to Claudius Taylor Thursday. A 9 pound son to Frank Zender Saturday. 15th child for the Zenders with nine boys and four girls living.
John Kummerer and Clarence Hoeps reported a stolen Ford found in Toledo on a street behind a dance hall. The car, taken from near Our Lady of Consolation Church while Mrs. Kummerer and her daughter attended mass, was discovered last Thursday without curtains tools blankets and robe and with its gears stripped. Mr. Kummerer plans to retrieve it Sunday.
Emanuel High born October 18 1845 in Van Wert County Ohio died February 14 after weeks of illness. He is survived by wife Mary High a son Arlington High and siblings Herschel Harber and Margaret Cook. Funeral services were held at Herschel High’s Dow street home and burial followed at Mt. Zion with Rev. E E Cole officiating. pallbearers were C R Tate Peter Long Pietro Pieraccini George Ash C N Cosgray and Minor Mann.

An old abandoned well on the James Cross farm was cleaned by Frank Bechtel of the Indiana Oil Co. A cave‑in required drilling through rock. Oil flowed to four 100 barrel tanks with 200 more on the ground. Gas buildup blew tools 200 feet high. oil continues to surface from gas pressure without pumping.
Local pest campaign organizers extend the time limit to March 1 to allow more points to be counted. Both sides reportedly near parity in points, and all collections must be submitted to Mr. Rees the agricultural instructor promptly for credit.
The Dairy Short Course meets Wednesday February 24 at 8:00 pm in the high school agricultural room. County Agent H. R. Brinker will lead a discussion on tuberculosis in cattle, with J R Rees as agr instructor urging good farmer attendance.
Last Wednesday night at least eight colored men were seen in town. Three were detained by the marshal, one with broken arches unable to walk. A white girl was accosted by a man on a dark corner, prompting calls for indoor accommodations for roaming individuals.
Manager Carry L. W. McDaniel of the McDaniel Overland Co. upper Sandusky area visited Carey recently. He formerly spent eight years with the Marion Overland Co. at Marion and brought along a mechanic with five years of experience. McDaniel reports business is good.
The American Legion Auxiliary will meet at the Legion rooms Monday evening February 22. Entertaining committee includes Mrs. D. J. Wumbert, Mrs. Anna Snyder, Mrs. L. S. Criger, and Mrs. J. G. Loy.
During Lent special services will be held with Wednesday Penitential Psalms and Benediction. Friday evenings feature the Way of the Cross with Benediction. Sunday services follow the usual schedule with a sermon in the evening.
John Zimmerman enters the Toledo Blade old fiddlers contest and will perform at the Rivoli theatre in Toledo this evening. Contest rules require participants to have practiced their art at least 50 years ago.
Carey fire department hosted families of members at Moose hall on Monday evening. A sumptuous supper preceded dancing and a colorful local minstrel show was well received.

The American Legion Earl Green post bazaar cleared roughly 300 dollars over three nights despite poor weather and other town events. The event drew steady attendance and favorable notes on fundraising success.
