Big Four reports strong January business in Carey area
January results show Carey passenger business $500 higher than Sandusky City and $400 above Tiffin, totaling more than Findlay and Vanlue combined. Freight figures rise sharply with 1915 to 1916 gains of 851,004 pounds and $1,297.33, plus Carey freight up to 6,731,389 pounds or $2,482.29 and a $1,477.74 increase.

Word Contest Winner Claims Rexall Aquarium Prize

City Council Discusses Gates and Sidewalk Repairs
The Monday night session included Mayor Chambers and Councilmen Heck Hood Spitler and others. Bills were paid for clock repairs, ordinance publication, dog culling, crossing cleanings, drayage, coal and railroad freight. The clerk was told to pressure the H. W. railroad over Main street crossing repairs and gates at the Big Four crossing. The mayor reported a missing response from Columbus on crossing gates and streetwork needs were assigned to the street commissioner.

The blacksmith councilman Mr. Griffith discusses a recently installed Bumper Calking Machine weighing 670 pounds. It handles horse shoe work by feeding the shoe into a mouth, spinning a wheel to fix the shoe, using a 315 pound wheel and 5 foot travel per revolution.
