Initiation and Installation at Beta Psi Kappa Delta Phi Chapter

The Beta Psi Chapter of Kappa Delta Phi initiated 12 members at Christ Lutheran Church in Carey with officers installed for the coming year. Ruth Conner and other national and regional officers attended, gifts were exchanged, and a dinner followed at the Homestead Restaurant.

Wallace Williams Receives Pro Deo et Patria Award

Life Scout Wallace R. Williams of Christ Lutheran Church in Carey Ohio becomes the first from the church to earn the Pro Deo et Patria Award for service to his church. Luther Leaguers Host Muhlenberg Federation Adult Education

The Muhlenberg Federation of Luther Leagues from 15 area churches met at Christ Lutheran Church. About 160 youths attended with St. Luke's North Baltimore providing devotions and a Good Friday drama. Four youths held after gun sale attempt in Upper San Dusky

Upper San Dusky police arrested four youths last Thursday for trying to sell firearms to merchants. Suspects named are George W. Stilts 19 Ronnie E. Jaccaud 15 Ralph L. Jaccaud 17 and Robert L. Powell 17, all from Ashley route 1. They were turned over to Delaware County authorities for investigation.

Police Court fines in collision case on W Findlay Street

William A Brandt 66 of route 1 was fined 15 dollars and 8.60 costs after appearing February 10 before Justice Clyde Jenkins on a failure to yield right of way charge. His car collided with a vehicle driven by Miss Diana Dunne on January 29. Citation by Capt. V R Jacob.

Accountants to Attend Toledo Chapter Meeting

William E. Carey men discuss Route 23 changes at Fostoria meeting

Carey officials represented by Village Manager George Dunn Council Chairman Clyde Jenkins Jaycees President Robert Showman and Carey Community Development Corporation president William Hershman attended a Fostoria Chamber of Commerce briefing. Three route options were shown as state plans for a Columbus to Toledo four lane highway along Route 23 northern segment and a Findlay bypass option. Fostoria officials planned talks in Columbus with the State Highway Department director and other leaders.

Vanlue Gas Co. Approved 9.5 Percent Rate Hike

The Vanlue Gas Co. a small natural gas firm serving Vanlue and nearby areas won an Ohio Public Utilities Commission ruling on February 9 allowing a 9.5 percent rate increase. The approved rise would lift total annual gross revenue to 27,300, an increase of 2,367 dollars, about 36 percent less than the company had requested.

NLRB Dismisses Charges Against Swan Rubber Co

The National Labor Relations Board dismissed unfair labor practice charges filed by United Rubber Workers Union Local 414 of Carey against Swan Rubber Co. The dispute covered a three month strike ending July 23, with alleged rewards for crossing picket lines and punishments for honoring them. At least 28 employees were affected. The examiner found the company acted to keep plants open and was open about its actions.

New Sewer Rates Listed In Village Ordinance

The village council approves a new sanitary sewer charge schedule based on water usage with a $2.75 minimum and tiered rates from 1.15 per 1000 gallons to 0.20 per 1000 gallons.
