A notice warns merchants and business men not to extend debts for Earl Green Post of the American Legion without a written order from the Post Commander R D McGill Post Commander. The directive restricts any accounting unless authorized in writing.
Reports say volcanic ash from the Rinehue and Puye Hue eruptions blanketed the Chilean Andes and spread across southern Argentina with three to four inches of ash. The last major fall in 1893 from Calbuco reached far less distance, about 700 miles.

W B Petty named to serve again as Sycamore postmaster after a presidential nomination sent to the Senate. Formerly in charge for ten years under Roosevelt and Taft, he is familiar with duties though he must attend the upcoming school week. Start date not set, likely in a few weeks.
A Republic man was arrested Thursday afternoon by Police man Greer for peddling meat without a license from the mayor. Mayor Mullholland fined him three dollars and costs. The arrestee visited a local meat dealer’s residence, triggering a swift notice to authorities. Citizens urged to report unlicensed peddlers.
Rev. Julian A. Santos of Ohio Wesleyan will preach at Crawford Methodist Church Sunday morning at 10 30. He is a native Filipino, gifted in English and a graduate of Union Bible Seminary Manila. He is an ordained Methodist minister. A silver offering will be received.
Dr and Mrs W T Gimmell of Forest celebrated their golden wedding last Wednesday. About forty relatives attended. The couple married at Mt Blanchard and moved to Forest in 1872.
The Men’s Fellowship Class of the Methodist Sunday School will hold its regular monthly meeting at the church this evening at 7 30 p m. A full program is planned with ample cats for attendees.
A. G. Collet's sale Tuesday attracted a big crowd and proved successful with horses selling to 280 dollars, cows to 99, sows 40 to 60, corn at 80 cents per bushel, and machinery selling fairly well.
Johnson and Miller sold Urban Kokenge and I G Huston each a new Ford coupe for use in their traveling salesman duties for the Globs stove company.
Carey, Garin charge, operates a storage battery construction plant at Schira Auto Supply Co shop. The process uses Willard Prestolite style plates, with Detroit suppliers and a 20 year battery-industry veteran supervising. Batteries come with one year free service and retailing is local with expansion planned as demand grows.
Last Friday Carey Hi played in a Tiffin tournament. Pemberville beat Carey 24 to 3 while Liberty Center defeated Carey 16 to 14. George Gardner Roscoe Len ner attended. Nelson Beem escorted as faculty representative. Carey faces Sycamore Hi tomorrow at the high school auditorium. A good game is expected. root for the home team.
Luther Church services in Springfield featured a fine sermon by L. E. Snyder from the Sun-Next Sun Edward Capewell will preach. Capewell previously preached here and was well liked. Luther League met Tuesday evening in Sunday school rooms with many present and a good time reported.
The practice traces to sixteenth century Italy in Padua where German students largely studied. They left farewell tokens for professors when they were away. Students recorded their names on slips of paper as personal cards to mark goodbyes.
F A Kummerer's sale held last Wednesday drew solid bids with cows selling up to 1385 and 1400 dollars, horses at 178 dollars, hogs at 56 dollars, and machinery also moving well. Mr and Mrs Kummerer depart today for a new home in Wood county.
Bucyrus residents waited for updates in the chase for F R Sinclair who fled the city leaving a stream of fraudulent checks. Police from Bucyrus and Columbus are seeking his capture amid the investigation.
Bernard Sweitzer of Chicago formerly of Delaware gave a wireless entertainment in Chicago Monday night and was heard at wireless receiving stations here.
Prof. Erf head of the dairying department at Ohio State University will speak at Upper Sandusky Saturday afternoon February 25.
The local W C T A held its monthly meeting Friday afternoon with Mrs L G Ranger convening and roll call quotes on Frances Willard. Devotions led by Mrs B C Walker included Psalm 145 and prayer. Mrs Elza Jacobs led declarations of principles while Miss Dora Jersey accompanied readings on Willard memoirs. Mrs W G Bradley chosen as representative to executive mid year in Columbus March 2 3. Next union meeting set for the second Friday in March.
Mr and Mrs William Stahl of northwest of town thank all who assisted during their recent illness with pneumonia and recovery.

The Sterling Manufacturing company of Sterling Illinois sues M J Ruffing and Son of Carey seeking judgment for 492.43 plus interest from October 1 1921 at seven percent per year on a promissory note. Attorneys Carter and Carter represent the plaintiff.
Officers of the Pioneer Picnic Association will meet Friday at 2:00 PM at the Carey Times office. All interested persons with ideas for the 1922 picnic are urged to attend or notify any officer with suggestions.
L. D. Wilford from Bucyrus known to Careyites as the income tax man will be at the Peoples Bank on Thursday Friday and Saturday February 16 17 and 18 to receive income tax returns make collections and distribute forms He will depart Saturday at noon.
Linus North is rehired as the street cleaner at a flat rate of $15 per week. Levi Greeémo submitted a bid of $12 weekly until March, after which the wage will be adjusted for the summer months.
The Woodmen announce a chicken supper at their hall Monday evening and urge every member to be present.
The firemen held their annual banquet at Moose Hall on Tuesday evening with a large turnout. J A Stombaugh led the arrangements assisted by D J Humpert and Frank Mangett Chief Wonder Winde. The hall featured Valentine decorations as Miss Mildred Mann Esther Pontius played piano and Clyde Baker recited a patriotic piece. An orchestra led by Roger Lindsay provided music while Stombaugh youngsters sang and a peanut race led to a Brand march. Guests enjoyed a singable table, dancing followed with Marshal C M Brown directing quadrilles. The firemen thank all volunteers and L O O M for hall use.
Alfred Bier, long time resident on the W. E. Sausser farm northeast of town, will sell soon and relocate to Vanlue. He has been elected manager of the cooperative elevator there and starts March 1, with praises from the Blanchard Journal and his parents Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Bier of this city.
Forest Stoll from City Water Works will take over Johnson & Miller repair shop on March 14 and run the Ford Service Garage. The garage annex becomes a sales room with Ford products and parts, and Johnson & Miller will remodel it.

Elmer Wonder purchases 10 acres of land from the heirs of Jonathan Shireman for 2500 dollars. The parcel lies north of the Northern Ohio railroad and beside Wonder's former residence. He plans to use the land as pasture.
Monday sale attracted a large crowd as items and livestock sold well. Corn brought 65 cents a bushel, hay 15 dollars a ton, sheep 12.80, shoats 17, brood sows 44, cattle 60 to 70, and oats 40 cents per bushel.
