Carey Community Development picks Huston as president for 1962
Rex Huston was installed as president of the Carey Community Development Corporation for 1962 at the February 6 meeting in the Municipal Building. Officers include T. J. Hilty as first vice president and Bill Howard as vice president, Miss Christine Straw as secretary-treasurer, George E Dunn trustee for 3 years, and Carl Krout trustee for one year. The slate, submitted by Paul Heck, was accepted with Krout filling Hilty’s expired term. Holdover trustees are Virgil Kear Isidore Collet Dr. R. B. Fire at the Thoburn Baker farm 34 miles west of Carey on County Road 88 destroyed a barn 80 by 111 feet, milking parlor equipment, 90 tons hay and livestock. Neighbors and Carey volunteers aided with tractors, spreaders, and food while five animals were saved. Loss amount unclear but insured partially.

Charles Horn suffered minor injuries after his 1959 Dodge collided with a Hobbs Bros. truck driven by Merle Decker 38 near Carey on S. R. 16. The truck carried 17 tons of lime, struck a power pole, cutting electricity to nearby homes for about two hours. Neither driver was cited.

Mrs. Harry Yeater, founder of the Carey Mothers of Twins club five years ago this month, welcomes twin sons Jon Nathan and Joel Eugene born at Blanchard Valley Hospital. James and Susan Yeater, the club’s inspiration, will be eight on April 19. Jon Nathan weighed 6 pounds 10 ounces at 10:32 a.m., Joel weighed 6 pounds 8 ounces and arrived five minutes later.
