Y Teens Plan Secret Sister Week Ahead of Valentine’s Day

The Y Teens met February 6 with June Hill leading worship and Faye Adel Sperger taking over as president. They announced Secret Sister Week ending on Valentine’s Day and each girl will give a daily small gift plus a final special gift on February 14. The group also discussed further plans.

Carey CYO remains unbeaten with its 22nd straight victory by defeating the Ottawa Knights 67-64 on Sunday. P Orians scored 26 points as Carey led most of the game and the tie stood 55-55 after three quarters.

Agricultural Exhibits Planned at Carey Community Institute

Agricultural exhibits are planned for Carey Community Institute at Carey High School on February 22 and 23. Prizes will be awarded in 14 classifications including corn ears, various seeds, wheat, oats, potatoes, and eggs. Committee members include Robert W. Creeger chair, Carter Kauble, and E. E. Navy Sailor From Guam Granted 30 Day Leave

Robert C. Donelson son of Mr and Mrs Elmer Donelson arrived in Carey February 4 on 30 day navy leave. He was called home by his ailing father who is improving nicely. After 24 months in Guam he will be stationed in the states when he returns to duty.

Community Institute to host baked goods display this year

At the meeting of the home arts committee on Tuesday the event was set for a baked goods display limited to cakes and cookies with prizes for first to third in each class. Justus lodge No. 393 urges all members to gather at Castle Hall 6 45 next Tuesday evening for the Hancock county meeting in Mt. Blanchard. Three candidates will be taken to confer the rank of knight with refreshments and a social after. A large attendance is desired. The lodge met February 13 at 8 p m in regular convention and conferred page and esquire ranks on two classes of candidates before closing and serving refreshments.

Six Hurt in Route 15 Collision Near Findlay

At 3230 p m on Sunday six people were injured when a car driven by Mrs Perl Snook 42 of 122% S Vance St Carey collided with a car driven by Clarence Betts 31 of Alvada on Route 15 three miles east of Findlay Betts left to enter a side road into Snook s path Injured included Mrs Snook David W Snook 10 Leota Betts 30 Mrs Salyer knee abrasions and Allan Betts 2 head injuries All were taken to Findlay hospital with Snook and Allan Betts later admitted and Allan sent to St Vincent s Toledo.

Ground Observer Corps Participates in Northeastern Exercises

Carey participated in aircraft observation exercises across the northeastern United States on Saturday and Sunday. Members of William Queen Post No. 61 logged 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. duty, with two to three volunteers per 3 hour shift on the municipal building roof. They reported excellent telephone links to Columbus and described planes as they passed overhead.

Fire destroys 1946 Ford club coupe in Carey home garage

A July morning blaze caused by a short circuit gutted the interior and damaged the finish of a 1946 Ford club coupe owned by Mr and Mrs Donald Clark on Route 103 near Carey. The fire alarm followed their daughter Patty waking from the horn blast. Firefighters kept the garage from ignition as the car was brought in from Sunday night. The car was parked after a Sunday school party. the class is insured. The Clarks reside on the John Booton farm, operated by Mrs Clark's father Karl Hosafros.
