Pfc. Gerald W. Phillips age 23 of Alvada Ohio was killed January 13 1945 on Luzon in the Philippines as a medical corpsman with the Sixth Army. Survived by parents two sisters a niece and a fiancé. He attended Vanlue High School and worked for National Carbon in Fostoria before induction.

Air Medal Awarded to Sergeant Ward in England
Technical Sergeant James G. Ward of Carey Ohio earned the Air Medal for meritorious achievement during sustained bomber combat operations over enemy occupied Europe. He flew in B 17 missions over Mannheim Cologne Frankfurt Koblenz and supported U S ground troops near the battle line. Ward trained at Chenute Field and Ardmore and is a 1955 Carey high school graduate.
