Funeral of L. D. Trubey at Christ Lutheran Church

Funeral services for L. D. Trubey, who died after strokes, were held at Christ Lutheran Church with Rev. Paul R. Clouser officiating. Carey Lodge 420 F and A M led the service and burial was in Spring Grove Cemetery with pallbearers named. Out of town attendees came from Michigan and nearby towns.

Bruno Hauptman Found Guilty of Lindbergh Kidnap Murder

Bruno Richard Hauptman was found guilty of the Lindbergh baby kidnapping murder in Flemington New Jersey. The jury of eight men and four women deliberated about an hour and six minutes before declaring him guilty of first degree murder. He was sentenced to die in the electric chair the week of March 18, with appeals likely to delay the execution, possibly until May.

A sign-up station for 1935 corn hog contracts opens at the Carey Farmers cream station Friday and Saturday February 15 and 16 from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm Rural farmers are urged to attend on one of these days A Ridge township station will open at the township house Thursday February 21 from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm for eligible participants Local officials emphasize early enrollment and participation by interested growers.

Radio reports said the Hauptmann jury in Flemington New Jersey retired at 1120 Wednesday forenoon and the Green Lantern ballot showed 78 against conviction and 48 in favor of guilt.

Porcelain Plant Fire Damages Kiln Room

Firefighters responded to a blaze at the porcelain plant shortly after 6:00 AM. The kiln room fire caused considerable damage but was contained, preventing spread to other areas of the plant.

Prize Winners At Institute Exhibit Of Quilts And Relics

Readable displays at the community fair showcased antique quilts bedspreads and relics. Entries included 100 year old bedspreads from Mrs Laudenslager and Mrs Jacobs Nitrauer and quilts by Mrs Thome Gamel and Wentling with many firsts and seconds across crochet appliqued outline and calico quilts. Prizes covered fruit vegetables and grains with names like Karr Romig Ward Derr and Yost among others noted for various categories.
