County Judge Babst begins second term in common pleas court

Sunday marked the start of Daniel Babst's second term as judge for the district court of common pleas. Other news includes Casper Veith of Upper Sandusky in serious condition after a stroke in Mansfield, and the death of Alexander Thomas near Nevada at age six years. Fred Fritchie retires from Fritchie Co. of Upper Sandusky to engage in business in Coveland. Upper Sandusky library specifications and forthcoming building work were received as blueprints are awaited. The February docket lists 66 civil and 5 criminal cases with 11 civil divorces. Station notes cover Dr. O C Stutz Berlin Friedmann treatment, Steve Johnson recovering in infirmary, and Sycamore high school girls forming two basketball teams, The Reds and The Blues, with a recent game decided 22 to 15. A damages suit filed in common pleas by Byrdd Williams vs Henry Daniels et al seeks 1600 dollars over onion seeding work.

Ear of Corn Wins Grand Iowa Show Championship

The best ear of corn grown in Iowa this year won the grand championship at the Iowa Corn Growers show at Iowa State College and sold for 3200. It was bought by E. L. Reed, the grower, who plans to continue breeding with Johnson County White. If sold by the bushel at this price, corn would bring over 2500 per bushel.

Helen Black Celebrates Ninth Birthday at Home

On Saturday afternoon Miss Helen Black hosted a birthday party on Vance street with ten invited girls and one boy. Games and music followed by refreshments. several gifts were given, and Helen thanks her friends for their kindness.

The talk uses sixteen colored slides to trace the origin development and aims of the Mormon hierarchy in western states. A free-will offering will be received at the door and America will be sung at the end.

Resolution to block mandatory advertising in legal publications adopted

At the forty first annual meeting of the Pennsylvania State Editorial association in Harrisburg C. L. Schuck publisher of the Monessen News introduced a resolution. The measure passed calls for efforts to kill a bill requiring mandatory publication of all county business advertisements in a designated legal publication for lawyers only.

Travelers Club Meeting Delivers Papers on Dresden Germany and Moving Pictures
