Wyandot County Sheriff Mark Kauble and Carey Police Chief Vincent Jacob report a February 11 1969 train collision at the North edge of Carey Ohio. A southeastbound C&O freight with 19 cars struck an eastbound ACY freight with 26 cars causing derailments and minor injuries. Seven lime laden cars and one derailed C&O car were involved along with two empty cars and the ACY locomotive. Damage confined to railroad property.

Harry Snook reported his car struck while parked in front of his High Street home during the evening of February 1. Walter Bauer of Carey was charged with leaving the scene of an accident after damages of 150 to Bauer 61 Dodge and 140 to Snook 64 Ford. An accident at 8:30 a.m. February 7 at Dow and Patterson involved Harold Wolfe of Upper Sandusky skidding on ice and hitting a curbside car owned by Gary Patterson, causing 400 damage to Patterson 67 Triumph and 300 to Wolfe 69 Pontiac.
