Mrs. E. M. Beck 50 of Carey died at the Home and Hospital this morning after illness since late January. Born in Wyandot County in 1880 to Isaiah and Sarah McCleary she married E. M. Beck on December 4 1916. Survived by six children Howard Paw Esther Doris Raymond and Donna all at home. Funeral Thursday at 2 from St Paul Evangelical Church burial in the church cemetery. Findlay Courier Monday.
Fifty chickens supported a large church supper as potatoes noodles and pies stocked the meal. The Lutheran men served over 300 attendees last Thursday with 10 gallons of coffee and smooth organization marking the third annual event.
Mr and Mrs gan Powell of northwest of town received a telegram announcing the death of Rev H D Shultz at his Columbus home Tuesday noon. He pastored the local Evangelical church 1916 to 1919 before moving to Canton. Survived by his wife two sons Henry and David and one grandchild. Funeral Friday at 2 30 in Columbus. He served as pastor of the Evangelical Congregational church in Columbus and presiding elder of the denomination.

An 114 percent 4 pound son was born Monday night to Mr and Mrs Henry O'Flaherty of North Vance Street. An 11 percent pound son was born Saturday morning to Mr and Mrs Grover Bakies.
Arthur Stoll resigned his 11 year post as a salesman at the local Ford garage this week. He has no definite plans for the future and offered no further details.
A marriage license was issued in Senecarsgunty to R. Galen Bame, son of Mrs. Vertie Bame of W Findlay Street, and Miss Gladys M. Diehl of McCutchenville.
Mrs. Della Baumunk, 61, died Saturday from burns suffered while ironing at 102234 Bancroft Street. Her dress ignited by a gas stove flame, her husband Fred Baumunk attempted to smother the blaze and then dunked her in a tub. Coroner declared death accidental and burial is set for Maple Grove cemetery Findlay. She was survived by her husband and son Alfred. Funeral Monday at her son's home.
Donald Kurtz of Carey has been chosen as a member of the Ohio Wesleyan University glee club to compete in the Ohio Intercollegiate Glee Club Contest at Memorial Hall Columbus on February 20. Kurtz is a senior. 30 members total were selected by Prof. G Raymond Hicks. Other schools represented include Bluffton Capital Wooster Ohio Northern Hiram Muskingum and Ohio State. Each club will perform Peasting I Watch and two other numbers, with two numbers sung by all groups together.
Twenty two members and two guests attended the Kiwanis gathering at the Galt hotel dining room Monday noon. President Howard Snyder led the business session and announced the Inter-Club meeting with Marion on Tuesday evening, Feb 17. Rev Amos Rogers of Delaware spoke on Lincoln with insights into the life of the great American.
Mrs Joseph Wehrle of Adrian learns of the death of her cousin Owen Ohl after a seven week illness. Survived by his widow and a daughter Mrs Harry Fisher of Sandusky City. He owned the Central Drug Store in Sandusky City. Mr and Mrs Wehrle and the Ewings will attend the funeral tomorrow afternoon in Tiffin.
The Beitler family expresses gratitude to friends for flowers, expressions of sympathy, and presence at the burial of their wife and mother, thanking them for kindnesses shown during their time of sorrow.

The Methodist Episcopal Memorial Evangelical and Christ Lutheran churches join for a union service this Sunday evening at 7 30 in the Evangelical church. Dr L S Keyser of Hamma Divinity School Springfield will speak on The Bible and Our Crucial Problems. Keyser, author and annual lecturer at Winona Lake, is well known for religious writings. People are invited to attend.
The Whirlwind Bowlers defeated the Big Five by 33 pins on Monday. Elmer Wers captained the Big Five with a 228 high score last week as the Big Four R R team won Saturday and the Big Five bowled Thursday at Fostoria with the ladies’ team.
William Keller son of Mr and Mrs H B Keller of this place has left San Pedro California on the Battleship Nevada bound for Panama to attend a review of the army and navy He has been with the US Navy stationed at San Pedro and has been studying music while playing in the ship’s band

Thirty five veterinarians arrive for the second short course in poultry diseases sponsored by the College of Veterinary Medicine at Ohio State University. The program runs Feb 9 to 13 with lectures discussions and demonstrations and includes Harry Hosafros of Carey among the enrolled participants.
