School officials urge parents to have pupils ready at the boarding point as buses arrive. Delays by a few tardy riders slow routes and create highway hazards for many. Drivers strive for safety but must consider the majority. cooperation is requested.
North Baltimore beat Carey 54 to 34 last Friday with Bennedict and Stockwell starring. Carey earned a win earlier in the season defeating Eden 37 to 30, while Carey Reserves fell 24 to 18 to Eden.

Troops I and II of Carey Girl Scouts met at the high school with Earl B. Driver welcoming. A two week Victory Book Drive begins Friday with town canvassing and a phone call for book pickup if houses are missed. The group will attend the 10 30 mass at Our Lady of Consolation Church.
Fordyce Gottfried of Fostoria son of Mr and Mrs Walter Gottfried east of Carey underwent emergency operation at Findlay hospital for removal of his left eye. He was injured at age five and is improving at his Fostoria home.
Saturday evening February 13 dancers at the Eagles hall with a 5 piece Victory Boosters orchestra. Music from 10 30 to midnight and admission priced in War Stamp values of 5.00 2.00 1.60 1.00 and 0.50.
The J T Club will meet at the home of Mrs. H. J. Lowery three miles northeast of Carey on Thursday February 26.
The 1943 Carey Farmers Institute will be held at the local high school auditorium this afternoon and this evening to boost production and preparedness. Afternoon topics cover livestock crops home economics and farm machinery with group leaders urged to attend. Tonight’s Victory Rally features Rev Marion B E Tinsler of Ada and H E Stout of Columbiana County with sessions starting at 1 30 pm and 8 pm.
A group of Kiwanians heard Howard P. Knepper of Cincinnati speak on the Boy Scout movement’s 33rd anniversary in America. The town prepares an Honor Roll for municipal building granite names, while a Cub Scout parent meeting and trainer sessions led by Charles Hall Hugh Hay and Don Parfitt begin with six more sessions planned for February 19 seeking local male volunteers.
Sr. Rosaire, O. P, a missionary nun in Foochow Fukien China, writes of constant bombing and destroyed mission buildings. She reports 500 orphans, war refugees, and older people in temporary quarters needing food and clothing. She is well and safe after eight years in China and is sister of Mrs. Ralph Haford.
The War Price and Rationing Board lists key deadlines. February 20 marks the last day of fuel oil heating period No 3. February 28 is the last tire inspection day for B C and T gasoline ration holders. March 15 sugar stamp No 11 expires. March 31 is the last inspection day for A gasoline ration book holders.

Aux. Dorothy Plott daughter of Mr and Mrs Roy Plott of Carey has been promoted to corporal. She is stationed at Ft Sheridan Illinois and was the first in Carey to join the WAAC.

Nelson Blue, son of Roy and Mrs Blue of Carey, attended a two week course in Endicott New York for the United States war department at Marion Engineer Depot. He was accompanied by Harvey Gale, chief clerk, to learn a new IBM bookkeeping system to be installed upon return. Blue is a Richwood High School class of 1936 graduate.
Miss Jeanne Chapman daughter of Mr and Mrs C I Chapman of Wdiay street has completed a four year course in laboratory training at Kent State University Kent and University Hospital Columbus and has accepted a position as laboratory technician at University Hospital
Mrs. Rose Diller will entertain the Carey Research club this Friday at 2:00 PM assisted by Mrs. Ella Smith and Mrs. Millie Payne as hostesses.
Bradley the Tailor offers 10 cents a dozen for clean metal coat hangers. The notice is addressed to boys and girls in Carey and seeks discarded hangers for recycling or reuse.
Miss Bernadine Nye 20 and Paul Shafer 19 were seriously hurt when their 1936 Ford crashed into the side of a southbound locomotive at the Findlay street crossing around 8:20 PM. Nye suffered multiple fractures and head lacerations. Shafer had shock and head injuries.

Invitations from Pampa Army Flying School in Pampa Texas announce the graduation exercises of class 43 B to be held February 16. William A Holloway former Carey high school music director is a member of the class and has been commissioned a lieutenant in the Air Corps Army of the United States.
W D A Chambers from northeast of Vanlue is seriously ill and has been at Crile clinic in Cleveland since November. He had surgery at Findlay hospital a month before transfer. Three Findlay brothers are C A Chambers, C Chambers, and Wesley Chambers.
The Dorcas Bible class of the Methodist Sunday school will meet this Thursday evening with Mrs. Rose Diller assisted by Mrs. C. L. Kelly and Mrs. George Gardner. Mrs. L. E. Offenbacher will lead the devotionals.
A 6 pound 4 ounce daughter was born last Thursday at 11 06 to Mr and Mrs Robert Nye in Findlay hospital. The baby was named Patricia Ann.
Officials of the Carey council of civilian defense announce a second practice dim-out in Carey on Tuesday evening February 23. The same procedure as the first dim-out will be followed, with a more detailed report in next week's Carey Times.
A 1943 letter from Manford Burleigh, president of Great Lakes Greyhound Lines, argues it is unnecessary to urge travel but letters press schedules will continue to inform the public about wartime travel conditions. The note urges press cooperation to maintain public understanding during material and speed restrictions.
