Linda Mullholand Receives Courtesy Award At Carey High

Linda Mullholand daughter of Mr and Mrs James Mullholand of E Findlay Street was chosen for the Courtesy Award this week. A Carey High School freshman she studies drums and piano, enjoys Scouting and camping, and plans college or business school after graduation.

Carey Agriculture Club plans scrap iron pickup and pest hunt

The Carey Agriculture Club met at Carey High School with 17 members. They voted to collect scrap iron in February and to hold a pest hunt from January 27 to February 24, with teams of seniors and freshmen versus juniors and sophomores. the losing team supplies ice cream. Basketball followed the meeting. Dr T Benton Peery of Christ Lutheran Church spoke at the high school assembly on February 4 about Japan Occupation Capacities and Destiny.

Northwestern Ohio educators meet in Attica on Feb 8

The Northwestern Ohio Association of School Administrators met at Attica on Tuesday February 8 for a program on the Legislative Program from the Ohio School Survey Commission. Participants included State Superintendent R M Eyman State Director Harold J Bower Walton Bliss Executive Secretary of the Ohio Education Association and Lester Bowsher Superintendent of Toledo. The Attica local was represented by Superintendent Wallace E Blake. A highlight was a tour of new classrooms and departments of the Attica schools.

Carey Teachers Association Forms Committees to Improve Instruction

Don Wilson president of the Carey Teachers Association appointed two faculty committees to study improving instruction and scholarship. The Elementary Committee is chaired by Ralph Sampson with several members, and the High School Committee is chaired by Cloyce Wentling with additional members. The Bluffton meeting on Feb 3 included High School Principal Cloyce Wentling and Superintendent Wallace E Blake, under the statewide Ohio Education Association drive to hold similar sessions.

Boy Scout Week Observed With High Mass and Breakfast

Our Lady of Consolation Church marked the 46th Boy Scout Week with a Sunday high mass conducted by Very Rev Basil Heiser OFM Conv and a breakfast in the school cafeteria. Scout Mike Fox and Cub Mike Hilty served, with 30 Cubs and Scouts and 20 dads and committee members in attendance. Urban Lorentz arranged the event, Robert Hale chaired the program, and Rev Theodore Eckholtz spoke about his Europe trip. Mothers who prepared the breakfast included Mrs. Howard Fleece and others.

Moose Polio Fund Grows to 350 With Jan. 30 Benefit

Harry Theiling secretary of the Carey Lodge Loyal Order of Moose said Tuesday receipts from the Polio Benefit supper and dance held January 30 increased the total to 350 dollars. Carey Livestock aided with advertising and tickets, not Carey Lumber Co. as earlier reported.

Cub Scout Den One of Troop 51 held its third meeting at Mrs M J Jacoby's home on Tuesday afternoon. The group pledged allegiance, made cherry trees for the next pack meeting, and played a rag toss game. Richard Buckingham was elected scribe and John Jacoby was elected Denner. Walter Miller of Montpelier who spent three months in Pakistan will present pictures and discuss his experiences at Memorial EUB Church at 7 30 Tuesday evening February 15. Miss Helen Bicknell of Findlay and New York City was elected president of Porcelain Products Inc at the annual stockholders meeting in Findlay. Dr Peery Attending Foreign Missions Meeting in New York

Dr and Mrs Benton Peery are in New York City for the winter meeting of the Board of Foreign Missions of the Lutheran Church of America. The meeting runs from Tuesday through today. They are stay at Hotel Russell near the church and traveled from Tiffin with a brief stop in Philadelphia, their former home for 17 years.

Village Council Ends Long Session After Four Hours
