Linda Mullholand daughter of Mr and Mrs James Mullholand of E Findlay Street was chosen for the Courtesy Award this week. A Carey High School freshman she studies drums and piano, enjoys Scouting and camping, and plans college or business school after graduation.
The Carey Agriculture Club met at Carey High School with 17 members. They voted to collect scrap iron in February and to hold a pest hunt from January 27 to February 24, with teams of seniors and freshmen versus juniors and sophomores. the losing team supplies ice cream. Basketball followed the meeting. Dr T Benton Peery of Christ Lutheran Church spoke at the high school assembly on February 4 about Japan Occupation Capacities and Destiny.
The Northwestern Ohio Association of School Administrators met at Attica on Tuesday February 8 for a program on the Legislative Program from the Ohio School Survey Commission. Participants included State Superintendent R M Eyman State Director Harold J Bower Walton Bliss Executive Secretary of the Ohio Education Association and Lester Bowsher Superintendent of Toledo. The Attica local was represented by Superintendent Wallace E Blake. A highlight was a tour of new classrooms and departments of the Attica schools.
Don Wilson president of the Carey Teachers Association appointed two faculty committees to study improving instruction and scholarship. The Elementary Committee is chaired by Ralph Sampson with several members, and the High School Committee is chaired by Cloyce Wentling with additional members. The Bluffton meeting on Feb 3 included High School Principal Cloyce Wentling and Superintendent Wallace E Blake, under the statewide Ohio Education Association drive to hold similar sessions.
Our Lady of Consolation Church marked the 46th Boy Scout Week with a Sunday high mass conducted by Very Rev Basil Heiser OFM Conv and a breakfast in the school cafeteria. Scout Mike Fox and Cub Mike Hilty served, with 30 Cubs and Scouts and 20 dads and committee members in attendance. Urban Lorentz arranged the event, Robert Hale chaired the program, and Rev Theodore Eckholtz spoke about his Europe trip. Mothers who prepared the breakfast included Mrs. Howard Fleece and others.
Harry Theiling secretary of the Carey Lodge Loyal Order of Moose said Tuesday receipts from the Polio Benefit supper and dance held January 30 increased the total to 350 dollars. Carey Livestock aided with advertising and tickets, not Carey Lumber Co. as earlier reported.
Officers announced a four session program with talks by Rev Richard Wobus and an International Farm Youth Exchange student, plus a Carey Home Talent show. Afternoon starts 1 15 pm and evening at 7 45 pm with door prizes and free will offerings.
A service of installation for Dr Ben ton Peery pastor of First Lutheran Church will be held at 10 30 Sunday morning Dr Amos John Traser of Hamma Divinity School Springfield will deliver the charge assisted by Dr George W Miley president of the Synod A reception for the Peery family follows in the parish hall and a covered dish supper at 6 30 precedes a program All congregation members are urged to attend.
Cub Scout Den One of Troop 51 held its third meeting at Mrs M J Jacoby's home on Tuesday afternoon. The group pledged allegiance, made cherry trees for the next pack meeting, and played a rag toss game. Richard Buckingham was elected scribe and John Jacoby was elected Denner. Other members include Charles Laudenslager Frank Kitzler and Michael Bernard. Den Chief is Jim Courtad and Den Mothers are Mrs Jacoby and Mrs Frank Troiano.

Tests show 94 percent of fine dust now captured, 4 percent above expectations, with tiny particles too fine to trap remaining. Material collected to be sold to rubber industry as a filler.

Open house Friday and Saturday features demonstrations by GE specialist Margaret Longnecker and GE counsellor Leo Dagenois from Toledo. GE steam iron door prize drawn at 8 pm Saturday. attendees registering may win without being present at the drawing.
Jaycees Hard Times Minstrel features Carey’s outstanding comedians. The show begins at 8 tonight in the high school auditorium.
Mr and Mrs Herbert Prater and daughters Judy Cindy and Sarah Lynn moved Saturday from Findlay to Carey into a house at 230 High Street owned by Sam Stone.
The Wyandot county courthouse will be closed all day Saturday February 12 and Tuesday February 22. Official notices urge residents to plan around the shutdowns and complete procedures beforehand.

Walter Miller of Montpelier who spent three months in Pakistan will present pictures and discuss his experiences at Memorial EUB Church at 7 30 Tuesday evening February 15. Sponsored by the Womens Society of World Sorority, a free will offering will be taken. Miller, a senior at Ohio State University, lived with four farmer families and taught them American planting methods while sharing insights on American life and misconceptions.
The People Bank Co. will be closed all day Saturday February 12 and Tuesday February 22.
Wharton of Upper Sandusky Wyandot agriculture agent and Dan Weber led the Carey Farmers Community Club meeting at the K of C hall. Wharton spoke on the life and duties of an extension agent while Weber screened a travel film Traveling by Greyhound. The club set Ladies Night for February 22 at 6:40 PM at the Methodist Church. Committee members for March include Buster Savidge and Walter Gottfried with a refreshment host.
Dr Madaniel will show slides and films of the big game in Atrea at the American Legion next Tuesday at 6 o clock sharp. Lunch will follow and all members are urged to attend.
Residents and bicycle operators in Carey Ohio must renew licenses every two years under ordinance Mg 462. Fines up to ten dollars apply for untagged bicycles. Licenses available at the clerk's office with owner name address age and bike details.
Miss Helen Bicknell of Findlay and New York City was elected president of Porcelain Products Inc at the annual stockholders meeting in Findlay. Frank M Edwards and George M Ruoff were named vice presidents. Five directors include Edward Spitnagle and Miss Bicknell re elected, with T E Dromgold Wm Hales and Robert McDougal newly elected. Edwards, a longtime Carey plant engineer, cites no changes in personnel.
Musicians from 100 county schools braved poor weather for Carey hosted clinic. Ratings in three categories honored Carey students and ensembles with I, Excellent, and Very Good recognitions across solos and quartets led by teachers and schools in the county.
Dr and Mrs Benton Peery are in New York City for the winter meeting of the Board of Foreign Missions of the Lutheran Church of America. The meeting runs from Tuesday through today. They are stay at Hotel Russell near the church and traveled from Tiffin with a brief stop in Philadelphia, their former home for 17 years.
The village council met for over four hours Monday night, its first gathering in three weeks. Much of the time was spent with visitors and planning for summer, with a fuller report to follow next week.
