The Carey Blue Devils basketball team suffered their first loss in thirty four starts as Pleasant Spartans edged ahead 16-14 after the first quarter. Carey’s late rally cut the gap, but Pleasant took a 3 point halftime lead and widened it in the third period. Mike Jacoby led Carey with 15 points, Keith Orians 14, Myers 11, Cole 8, Baker 8. Carey later defeated Liberty-Benton 88-52 behind Jacoby with 29 and Cole 19 as the team improved to 16-1 with one regular season game left. The March tournament looms next week at Kenton with hopes for state finals.

Slippery Streets Cause Two Parking Lot Collisions
Mrs Pauline E Wick of Rt 2 driving February 5 on West Street slid on ice and struck Paul Kuffman’s 618 West Street car causing about 1090 damage to the Wick vehicle and 2500 to the Kuffman car. Mrs Cecelia Shumaker of 209 W Findlay Street also slid on the ice into Howard Snowberger’s 209 N Vance Street car with about 50 damage to the Shumaker car and 150 to the Snowberger car. No charges or citations were issued.
