Warsaw Indiana January 21 1928 reads an editor letter recalling old time bread baking and housewifery with notes on Sunday school and church life. The piece reflects on changes in society and nostalgia for simpler days and includes local notices about a Parent Teacher Association meeting and planned program.
Forest Hurd as Wyandot shipping association chairman Raymond Orians Herman Derr and Allan Baker toured Cleveland Monday to inspect a stock sale. Derr displayed 20 hogs four days short of five months old averaging 17734 pounds, dragging hog prices. Dumos Conu signed by C U Wenner and Vincent Orians sold 10 cents above regular market with calves also fetching top price. All enjoyed the trip.
Neighbors collected about 500 tons of ice at the Bernard O'Brien ice house for communal use. Women and children hosted a pot luck dinner and social time on Tuesday with attendees including Addison Rickle Gibson Spiller Wright Lortz Roszman Wright Ward Krantz Stoll Nachbar Moser Carr and others.
A hog owned by A G Collet was butchered and stolen from the Savidge farm south of town last Sunday. A $100 reward is offered for information leading to the thiefs conviction. Ford truck tracks and the skinned hogs hide and offal were found near Bland bridge five miles east of Carey as the sheriff investigates.
Miss Rose Mary Fox of Cleveland daughter of J A Fox will marry Henry B Hagesfeld of Cleveland on Tuesday February 14 at 9:00 am at St Aloysius Church Cleveland A reception will follow at 10810 Earle Ave residence.
D W C Rau of northwest of town was carried to Findlay Hospital Tuesday night for a hernia operation. He had suffered weeks of bronchitis and severe coughing worsened his condition until it became serious. He was transported by Sutter's ambulance.
Parish ladies host a Valentine Frolic for single folks seventeen and over on February 14, 1928 at Our Lady of Consolation parish hall starting at 7 00 o clock. Open to neighboring parishes.
Mayor announces dog tag requirement for all dogs within Carey village limits. Untagged dogs will be seized and turned over to county dog warden A. F. Byers.

At a Tuesday meeting Earl Green Post launched a drive to increase membership. Two squads led by Charles Calmes and Robert Smith aim to top the March report and win a banquet for the losers. An honor roll will display names at Simonis grocery with gold stars for ex servicemen.
Stowe Motor Sales, Chevrolet dealers in Upper Sandusky, open a Carey branch in the Keller building. The existing Chevrolet team of S. H. Krebs, Catherine Myers, Van L. Cook, and John Sheridan remains, with plans to expand showroom space and greatly enlarge the service department and parts stock for Carey and nearby residents.
Mrs E Luther Spaid of Chicago wife of a former Christ Lutheran pastor lay seriously injured five weeks before Christmas after a street car she boarded suddenly pulled away dragging her several feet. She had spent four weeks in a hospital, returned home for Christmas, then worsened with vomiting and head and chest pains and was sent back to the hospital where her condition remained serious.
Bert Smith, previously at the Eatherton and Riter farm west of town, rents the Mrs Aldhr Tiley farm west of Vanlue. Hudson, longtime resident of the Frank Ruffing farm north of Carey, rents the Eatherton and Riter place.
On Tuesday forenoon Mrs C H Sull of east of town underwent a major operation at the Findlay hospital. Dr. Tartmen performed the operation. Her husband and Miss Htta Kemmerly were with her, Mrs. Hull is getting along as well as could be expected.
Mr and Mrs Elmer Strahm welcomed a 10 pound baby boy named Lawrence Edward last Thursday.
Mrs. Julia Ann Moore born June 6 1852 in Amanda township Hancock county died February 4 1928 at 2 PM at her daughter Mrs J H Hoy near Findlay aged 75 years 7 months 30 days widow of William M Moore who died earlier in 1928. Surviving children Ida Hoy Rosa F Presler J B Moore a sister Elizabeth Stahl two grandchildren Martha Don Presler and three step grandchildren Hoy Cop ley Egbert. Funeral Monday at 1 PM at home and 2 PM at St Johns church Arcadia officiated by Rev R B Coleman. Interment St Johns cemetery. Numerous Carey attendees listed.
A Ford touring car carrying Ernie Risner and Larkie Puckey was struck by a cut of cars at the Findlay street crossing and pushed onto the tracks. The auto was mangled but both men survived though Risner suffered head injuries and serious gashes, with Puckey badly bruised. They were treated at Dr Van Buren's office and Risner later moved to Findlay hospital.
About 75 persons attended the Monday evening banquet hosted by the firemen at the Knights of Pythias hall. Councilmen Chambers and Constien spoke briefly, while J T Stombaugh and his son Tommy offered a humorous sketch titled Old Arkansas.
The C K of Q Ladies host a third party and social Thursday evening February 9 at the parish hall. Parish and neighboring parishes are invited. Saturday date provided.
Mrs. William Stahl, aged 78, died mid afternoon Wednesday at her home near Fostoria after years of bronchial trouble and a paralytic stroke. Funeral services were held Saturday from Memorial Evangelical church with Rev. W Elmer Bailey officiating. Survivors include brother Charles Luzader of near Fostoria and sister Mrs Mary Jane Sanderson of Bradner.
We express sincere thanks to neighbors and friends who assisted us during our recent bereavement. Gratitude to those who sent flowers furnished automobiles and musicians for their services at the funeral. Mr. and Mrs. H. O. Luzader.
Miss Anna May Arend and Edward Brickner of Fostoria wed at 6:00 am in a nuptial mass officiated by Fr Lawrence at Our Lady of Consolation. The bride wore navy georgette and was attended by her sister Lucille Arend. the groom by Henry Arend. Afterward a breakfast for immediate families was held at the bride's home. The couple will reside on Route 3, Fostoria, as Brickner works as a road contractor.
January 1928 circulation totals show heavy demand for fiction and biographies. Adult and juvenile categories list high loan counts across literature travel history science and religion with 1493 total items issued. Twelve new borrowers were added in the period.
The S. of C hosts a Valentine party for members and husbands on Monday evening February 13. A pot luck supper will be served with each member bringing two sandwiches per guest plus an extra dish. Cards dancing and amusements will entertain. admission is free and events start promptly at 7:30.
The Wittenberg College Orchestra tour is postponed and the concert at the Lutheran parish house next Thursday will be rescheduled for a later date.
The Queen Esther Standard Bearers meet Saturday afternoon with Eloise Bame and Ference Holder assisting as hostess.
