Fewer New Homes In Carey Declines in 1957 permits
Carey saw a drop in new housing permits over the past two years. In 1957 eight new house permits were issued, seven with attached garages and one without, compared with ten in 1956 and twenty one in 1955. Garage permits fell from sixteen in 1955 to eight in 1957. Remodeling permits remained steady around 25 to 30 annually. Commercial and industrial permits numbered six in 1957, versus three in 1956. A house was moved into town in 1957 and a church building permit was issued.

Former Bomber Crew Members Reunite Here After 1944 Missions
Mr and Mrs Allan Smith Jr hosted a reunion weekend for former B 17 crew members Alvin H Brown of Atlanta and Elmer Nutter of Cleveland. Brown was pilot and Nutter gunner on the Berlin raid in March 1944. Both men later pursued sales careers while Smith worked as turret gunner and Hess sales engineer.

Three Foxes Taken In Hunt Sunday
The Carey Conservation League sponsored a second fox hunt on Sunday afternoon. Foxes bagged included three foxes credited to Ross Johnson, Richard Hucke, and Robert Baldwin. William Fox found a live raccoon to be tested by a state game protector. The league funds bounties for crows and foxes, currently five dollars for a fox. An election of officers is planned for Friday at 7:30 pm at the Legion Hall.

Mothers Collect 695 In Polio March Carey
The annual Mothers' March on Polio in Carey netted 695 63 dollars, just 25 98 below 1957. Many solicitors found no one at home and some blamed payday.
