Farm Bureau Meeting Scheduled at Moose Hall

Crawford Ridge farm bureau members will meet Wednesday night February 12 at 7 30 in Moose hall. A committee including Mr and Mrs Vincent Krupp Mr and Mrs L O Pratt Mr and Mrs Jacob Fruth and Mr and Mrs E B Thome will organize refreshments and entertainment. Knights of Pythias Lodge Announces Upcoming Degrees

The Knights of Pythias report strong turnout and nightly entertainment. The lodge has been conferring degrees on new members and urges all members to attend work next Tuesday February 11. Committee urges prompt participation.

Death of Mrs Ella Halloran of Middletown

Mrs Ella Halloran of Middletown died Saturday afternoon after injuries from a fall two weeks earlier. She was survived by five sons one daughter 17 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at Holy Trinity church Middletown. The family thanks Big Four employees for the flowers.

Death of Nephew Myron Hoisington Mentioned

Mrs Scott Long learns of the death of her nephew Myron Hoisington in Adrian Michigan on January 28 at age 70. He was born near Carey and the Hoisington family left Carey fifty years ago. Hoisington was a familiar visitor to Carey residents.

In 1860 Dr. John B Squier of Sulphur Springs Ohio wrote the words for a campaign song with his son O W Squier connected to the place. The verses were set to music and published in the Republican Glee book for that year. The title was:

A patriotic verse extols Abraham Lincoln as the West’s great champion for free labor and free soil. It recalls Lincoln’s clash with Douglas over slavery and praises his stance in the 1850s political struggle as freeing lands and work for freemen. Ohio Central appoints W J Galbroner superintendent

W J Galbroner of Carey has been named superintendent of the Ohio Division of the New York Central Railroad Ohio Central Lines. The promotion, announced by Hi Speaks and L S Emery, follows J J Brinkworth's transfer to Buffalo after four years in the role. Galbroner has over 30 years in railroad work and was previously Brinkworth’s assistant.

Carew Farmers Cooperative annual meeting held at Gottfried Hall

Stockholders gathered at Gottfried Hall on Thursday with 140 members in attendance. C G McBride of Ohio State University reported on the cooperative's finances noting 1921 began with a 16000 deficit and 31500 notes payable, while interest paid since then totaled 12286. Property equipment investments totaled 9671 in recent years as the coop expressed thanks to the public and pledged better service ahead.

Clerk’s Financial Report Ruling in Ohio Case

The First Appellate District Court of Hamilton County ordered Clerk Moss of Montgomery Village School District to publish last year’s financial report. He was fined $100 for failing to comply, with a $5 daily fine after March 31 until the maximum is reached.

Relatives report the death of Mrs Will Smith of Ashland Oregon on Saturday Jan 25 at age 82. Born Nancy Sheridan she was sister to the late Wm Sheridan and wife of a Smith brother of Mrs Anna Sheridan and C Pf Smith of this place. Survived by son Everett of Ashland. Family moved to Oregon from Carey about 20 years ago.
