Mrs Sarah Ellen McAllister Van Heyde died unexpectedly at age 66 years 9 months 21 days at her North Street home Saturday at 11 30 a m Funeral services were held at the Tweeday home with Rev W J Hagerman of the Methodist church officiating Interment was in Spring Grove cemetery She was born April 9 1848 in Circleville Ohio married December 30 1868 to James Albert Van Heyde and leaves a large family including three sons and eight daughters long time Methodist member

Glosed Store Closes in Tiffin After Fifteen Months
Elmer L. Volkmer of Tiffin closed the shoe store next to the post office after fifteen months of operation. The business shut its doors last Saturday and on Monday stock was parked away, leaving the room vacant.

City Council approves appropriation for light plant and buys nozzles
At the Monday night session mayor Wender and councilmen including Angus Pahl Ryder Washburn Heck Dunlap and Blue paid bills for coal lumber labor and groceries. The council unanimously appropriated 1500 for serial light improvement and voted to buy two Little Giant nozzles on a 15 day trial while the marshal ordered street litter dumping stopped and 1915 auto tags displayed.

Mrs Grover Hile Dead in Vanlue Area
Mrs Grover Hile died after a two week illness from congestion of the lungs shortly after midnight Sunday. Funeral services were held at the Brethren church Tuesday at 12 30 pm with burial in Van Horn cemetery. She leaves husband Grover Hile four children Doroth, Vera, Dwight and one infant who died, plus a sister Mrs Rhoda Williams and several half siblings. She was born December 18 1882 in Jay County Indiana and moved to this city eight years ago with Rev Williams in charge of the United Brethren church.

The Julia Wisebaker case against Carey village settled with both sides paying half the costs. The William Greek versus Jennie Greek divorce was set for Monday but settled. alimony awarded to Jennie Greek at 8600 dollars. Each side covers own witnesses and lawyers and the plaintiff pays court costs.

Manual Trainer Leaves Carey Schools for Toledo Agriculture Post
C. C. Coontz, long time manual training instructor at Carey, announced last Thursday that Friday would be his last day. He accepts a new role as agriculture teacher at the Warde school in Toledo, starting with a salary of $1100 annually and raises of $100 each year until $2000. No replacement has been found to finish the year and the manual training department will rest this week.

Power Outage Behind Carey's Nighttime Darkness
Sunday night Carey town suffered an eight o’clock blackout affecting churches and homes as incandescent service failed. A partially damp fuse box on a line pole near the Byrdn Ogg residence caused a short circuit until the box dried, restoring grid power by Monday afternoon. Chief Engineer Reynolds warned residents to report any wire disturbances to prevent further outages.
