Carey Blue Devils Storm to 15th Straight Victory

In a crowded Carey gym the Blue Devils beat Ada 67 to 59 to extend their winning streak to 15. Coach Cooper, though ill, attended and inspired the team as Ada led briefly in the first half before Carey pulled away in the second. Kloepfer Onrans Tong and Myers led Carey with double digit totals.

Mayor's Court Hears Leash Law and Traffic Citations

Mayor Peifer heard five cases, four involving leash law violations with fines of five dollars plus costs for Risner, Howard, Strahm, and Smith. Jack Hager Garner was fined twenty dollars and costs for failure to yield. This week’s citations include Salyer for yield violation, Traxler and Nye for dogs, Oman for traffic light, Mulfholand for assault, and Beasier for Beasley case.

Boy Scouts Honor Roll at Pack 13 Meeting

Pack 13 Cub Scouts held a Sunday Jan 30 meeting at Christ Lutheran Church. Awards were given to many youths including Jeff Barth Jimmy Walters and Jeff Coppler with Wolf Bear Lion and Silver Arrow badges. Pinewood Derby kits were distributed for the February 27 race after the Blue and Gold Banquet.

Garey Kiwanis Benefit Supper For Library Fund

Garey Kiwanis plans a pancake and sausage supper at Christ Lutheran Church on February 17 from 3 to 8 pm. Proceeds support the library and Youth Activities funds. Three Youths Injured in Pick-Up Collide With Building

Three youths were injured Sunday evening when a 1962 Falcon pickup driven by Terry Quinn McCammon failed to turn onto Vanlue Street and plowed 120 feet into the Dible Building alley on Vance Street. McCammon faced a reckless operation charge. The crash damaged the Rambler driven by Rabeiswe rt F. Ryman and sparking another collision near the AC&Y crossing. Minor injuries reported to the other parties. Beulah Salyer and Franklin H Boehm involved in separate minor incidents nearby.

Cancer Crusaders Map Strategy For Ohio Fund Drive

Cancer fighters from this area and Upper Sandusky join 400 Crusade Volunteers in Columbus for an American Cancer Society State-Wide meeting. They aim to raise 22 million dollars in Ohio this April with county wide solicitations led by Mrs Clarence Hoops and Mrs Byron Swartz. Ohio University President Vernon Alden, featured speaker, warns that priority research requests cannot be met without increased giving. He urges volunteers to raise per capita giving from 2.14 to 2.44 dollars during the crusade to support research education and patient services.

Fire damps at Emerine home blaze in Muncie Street

Thirteen Carey volunteer firefighters answered a Friday evening alarm at 7:43 p.m. for a blaze in Herman Emerine's home at 132 South Muncie Street. The fire was brought under control with little trouble. a mug and couch were lost and smoke damage was extensive.
