Revival meetings at Memorial Evangelical church

A record crowd attended last night as Rev. W W L Muller delivered a practical message on the Christian relations to Christ from the vine and branches parable. Out of town attendees and Beck sisters provided musical numbers with services set for 7 30 each night and Sunday the sermon topics include Gods Great Grace and An Inevitable Responsibility.

The annual meeting of Carey Electric Telephone Co. was held on Thursday evening at the office. Directors reelected include Fred Wolls, John F Brown, R. J. Williams, Mrs I L Culler, J E Myers, and I L Culler. Officers reelected are John F Brown as president and general manager, Mrs Culler as vice president, and I L Culler as secretary-treasurer.

Ewing Property Sold to Church

Christ Lutheran church voted to acquire the J D Ewing property west of and adjacent to the church adding 66 feet frontage and including the present parsonage for future needs. The sale would also affect past and current pastor residences and a resignation by Rev. Paul R. Clouser was tabled for one week.

Farmers' Co-op Holds Annual Meeting at Carey

The Carey Farmers' Co-operative Co. met at the Lutheran parish house with 114 attendees. Walter Arange of Bowling Green University spoke on The Progress of Education Facilities in the Past One Hundred Years. The Hicks from the Sticks provided music and Wenner reported on activities and finances.

Carey High School Band Hosts Rural Youth Event Schedule

The program lists Rev Roy B Leedy Carey Schools John Grierson Leonard Kiein and Mrs W S Ferguson presiding at sessions on February 10 including talk on leisure time heritage and rural communities. Officers to be elected and minutes read with readings by Miss Mary Gove and Mark Karr. An evening program features music by Ellen Vaughn Alton Kinsinger and a one act farce.

Large Attendance Hoped for at Community Institute

Community Institute aims for over 300 average adult attendees per session this year. Ohio institutes so far few reach that, with Attica Dunkirk and Fostoria near the mark. Carey led Wyandot county last year with 246. Perrysburg topped state with 891. Sessions mostly free. exhibits encouraged with prizes.

Carey village to sell hitching grounds on W North Street

Sealed bids are invited by the village clerk for the plot on W North Street known as the hitching grounds. Bids must be filed by 12 noon on March 12. The property cannot be sold for storage of junk, used automobiles, or motor trucks.

A pinochle tournament opens Monday night February 7 at 8 o clock in the Galt hotel. All interested players are asked to attend. A captain s meeting was held Wednesday night to finalize details. Rolland McDowell and Lawrence Brand serve on the committee.

Price Addresses Local Kiwanians

At the Pilgrim House the Cary Kiwanis club met with guests and filled extra tables. Russell Price of Upper Sandusky spoke about a referendum on the November ballot to authorize a committee to recommend gubernatorial appointments for the state court of appeals and state supreme court. He spoke in place of Fred Milligan of Columbus.

Red Cross Appeals for China Relief Funds

The American Red Cross seeks one million dollars for relief in China including food, clothing, shelter, medical care, and epidemic prevention. It calls for donations through local chapters and the Upper Sandusky Red Cross office in Wyandot County. Chase Stubbs chairs. Sophie Holdridge listed as secretary.

F F A Oratorical Contest Sees Winners at District and State

The Carey FFA sent Robert Wonder to Mt Gilead for a district public speaking contest on Rural Electrification and Its Uses. Bobby Jones of Bradner won first at district, earning a state contest berth in Columbus where he placed third during Farmers Week, with the state winner advancing to Kansas City for the national show.
