Proposed Columbus to Toledo Highway Plans Announced
Deputy Highway Director Guy E. Neeper announced tentative plans to convert US Route 23 into a four lane corridor from Columbus to Carey and extend it west to meet US 25. An aerial study is ongoing along a northwest Columbus to Toledo line with alternative routes via US 33 to Marysville US 31 to Kenton and US 68 to Findlay. Public hearings are expected after route decisions are made, likely in March.

Chief Henry Pieracini told Village Manager George E. Dunn that the Carey police made 202 arrests last year and issued 3,487 parking tickets. They investigated 58 accidents, filed 12 Municipal Court charges, and conducted about 1,500 investigations, including motor vehicle checks and routine matters. Arrests included liquor violations, intoxication, disorderly conduct, dogs running at large, pedaling without a permit, aggravated assault, burglaries, and drunken driving among 118 other traffic violations.
