Polis Games at Wharton Hold Benefit Basketball Night

Two basketball games are slated at Wharton High School gym on Tuesday February 7 to raise funds for the March of Dimes. The Wharton High School team faces the Ex-Hi squad and the Church of God team meets in the second game. Public invited to attend and contribute to the polio fight fund.

Leaves for South America for Maracaibo post wedding

J W Duringer and Mrs Elizabeth Thomas of Carey recently wed and left Sunday January 22 for Maracaibo Venezuela where he works as chief clerk for Gulf Oil Co. They were in Bellefontaine with his mother Gladys Duringer before departure. Wife and mother and Mr and Mrs Charles Harris accompanied him to Vandalia for the flight. His wife and son Ronald plan to join him in Maracaibo when housing is ready.

Judson Frederick to Receive Degree at Toledo University

Judson Frederick of Carey will join the class graduating February 3 at Toledo University after a four year industrial management program. His mother Mrs. Leora Frederick of East Findlay street will attend exercises. Judson is a Carey High School graduate and World War II veteran.

Blue Racers Killed Near John Snook Home

The A. C. and Y. section gang reports two blue racers killed last Wednesday January 25 near the John Snook home five miles southwest of Carey. Warm weather brought snakes from winter quarters as thermometers in the locality read 75 degrees.

Telephone strike expected to spare local service

The threatened strike will probably not affect local service though long distance lines may be unavailable. Ohio Bell lines carry all long distance traffic and town calls may be rejected. February 8 is the strike date.

Dr. H R Wenner received the state charter from Al Meyer as William Kesler presented the national charter and urged Civic, leadership and fellowship.
