The annual Senior Scholarship Test will be held at Upper Gandusky high school on Saturday morning February 3. Forty percent of seniors in each participating school qualify. Mr Mullholand received a 25 year service award as adviser of the Carey Hi Y club. George Schwemley, president of the Hi Y, presented the pin plaque and card last Friday in the high school assembly. The award honors his longtime sponsorship of the Hi Y boys.
The report notes 269 pupils enrolled at Old AZ with an average contribution of 1.25 dollars per pupil. Congratulations to teachers and pupils for completing another fine task. Principal C. G. Laird signs the notice.
Carey schools invited pupils to view King Solomon's Mines as a thank you for their March of Dimes efforts. Elementary pupils watch February 5 and high school Feb 6, with film highlighting African jungles. The Careyant staff rushes to finish the 1951 annual. most photos are in.
Leo T. Jones reports Carey schools raised 645.84 for the March of Dimes from Col Crawford with 338532 pupils donating 4 per pupil, Awest building with 99 pupils giving 111, and the high school of 350 students contributing 199.22. The effort will be sent to National Foundation of Infantile Paralysis headquarters for national publication.
Paul L Klein of Toledo joins NCR 100 per cent club central division for Ohio Michigan Indiana Kentucky as top salesman basing on sales volume. He will attend installation ceremonies with NCR executives in Dayton.
Mr Klein is the son in law of Mr and Mrs Elmer Messmer of 344 E North Street Carey. His wife is the former Martha Jane Messmer.
A three judge court ruled for Swan Rubber Co. of Bucyrus in a suit by Miami Industries of Toledo seeking 4400 dollars for a hose coiling machine. The Toledo firm claimed the machinery was inadequate and nonpayment. Swan contended contract terms were not met.
Pfc Kenneth A Stroub 23 of Carey was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for meritorious service in combat against enemies of the United States. Serving three years in the Army he has been with an infantry division in Korea since June 26 and has seen heavy fighting. He is the son of Mr and Mrs Ray Stroub Sr of High Street.
Earl Green post No 344 American Legion will hold a regular meeting Tuesday evening February 6. Afterward members will travel to Sycamore for a county meeting with transportation provided for those without means. Orville Wohlgamuth Post Commander.
The Jennie Larmonth Missionary Society of Christ Lutheran Church will gather at 8 p m on Tuesday February 6 at the home of Mrs G W Summit for its meeting.
Carey C Y O basketball squad remains undefeated after a week of wins. Paul Orians poured in 48 points against Meyer Gerding, with Bill Dennison adding 22, and the team defeated Cooper Tires 69 38 at Findlay. They followed with a 91 85 victory at Leipsic and a 72 53 home win over Fostoria, then beat Mockets at Upper Sandusky before traveling to Ottawa. No home games for two weeks.
The Carey Memorial Park Board releases its first year results for the new pool. Open from Memorial Day to Labor Day it closed 21 days due to cool weather and lists contract totals of $60,942.45 with six vendors including Wie derkohr Bros and J F Dible Co. Attendance reached 13,264 with 7,208 season tickets and 6,050 general admissions. average daily attendance was 135.4.
Youth Week activities are in progress at Memorial BE Church. Evening services begin at 7 with a trip to Vanlue JUB church for a revival. A weekend revival is planned with 7 30 p m sessions Friday to Sunday and 10 30 a m Sunday service. Miss Meredythe Scheflin and Glenn Spaulding from Cleveland Bible College will speak. A 2 30 p m Sunday service will be held at Wyandot County Home. On Friday February 2 the Women’s Society of World Service hosts an all day missions study class in Gibbins dining room with speaker Mrs C C Vandersall of Amherst showing Germany trip photos.
The Shrine of Our Lady of Consolation begins Lent with Ash Wednesday Feb 7 at 7 00 pm with distribution of ashes after each mass. Lenten sermons by Rev Jeremiah Smith begun Feb 9 with six sermons on What Am I by Divine Intention. Evening devotions, stations of the cross and benediction planned on Wednesday and Friday nights at Shrine and St Nicholas Church in French Town conducted by Hather Marcellus Leil.
Ground Observer Corps post Carey No 61 invites members to participate in February 10 and 11 exercises. A meeting is set for February 8 at 7 30 p m in Keller Motor Sales rooms to recruit additional aircraft spotters. Harold Shue leads as chief observer with William H Keller organizing.
Michael Bibich of Findlay a former Crestline resident purchased the stock and fixtures of Cy's Super Market from CC Simonis. Bibich a veteran operator plans to remodel and redecorate the Carey store before opening. He runs a Crestline market and a Findlay market at 200 Lima Avenue focusing on a modern meat market with groceries and foods.
Mr and Mrs Russell Wickiser of Carey and Mr and Mrs Otto Neumann of Nevada attend the Buckeye State Mutual Insurance association annual meeting in Covington. Wickiser will speak on Preparing the Short Farm Application and join a panel discussion on the topic.
The Veterans of Foreign Wars post in Upper Sandusky hosts a stag party and full course meal this Thursday at 7 pm. All proceeds go to the March of Dimes. Don Young, Commander, urges community members to attend.
The Rev James H Moore of Johnson City New York a missionary to Korea for three years will be guest speaker at the Carey Methodist Church Missionary Institute This includes Sunday services at 930 am church school 1030 am morning worship 400 pm informal discussion with slides 630 pm covered dish supper and 730 pm evening service The public is invited and youth groups are welcome Moore and his family recently returned from Korea due to warfare and plan to resume evangelistic work when possible He sailed for Korea in 1947 and served in Seoul and surrounding communities Mrs Moore born in Lungchingtau Manchuria
Charles Maube, longtime manager of the Carey office, is promoted to plant supervisor based in the Tiffin office with ten towns under his jurisdiction. Harold Shirley becomes Carey manager after serving as a Tiffin service man. Both families plan no move until spring. Joseph Laube and wife will move to Findlay home on BE North Street when vacated.
Seventeen Wyandot county draft registrants left Wednesday for induction into the armed forces. A further three had draft notices but were already enlisted. Names include Herbert A Winter Donald J Orians and others. Fifteen more will be inducted February 14 and 15 will undergo pre induction physicals February 9.
The Carey Conservation League will host a social meeting on Tuesday evening February 6 at 6 o'clock in the Eagles hall. Free lunch and entertainment will be provided. The public is welcome.

The Carey Blue Devils split two tight games this week. In McCutchenville Scotch Big Reds edged Carey 45 43 in a nip and tuck contest. The Carey reserves also won their game.
Blue Devils head to Fremont for a protest tourney after road games. They recently faced Sulphur Springs a top Class 1B team and schedule Tiffin Calvert Upper Sandusky Rams and Marion St Mary's at home. Carey plans to enter the Fremont event with a young squad gaining experience for next year.
The Blue Devils fell 29 28 in a tight matchup. Earlier they lost to North Baltimore 70 439, as two Baltimore players exceeded 20 points. Roach totaled seven of his 29 points, and North Baltimore led 35 25 at halftime.
The Peoples Bank Company announced that starting Monday February 5 sales tax stamps may be purchased at the bank. Ohio sales tax officials will be on hand to instruct bank employees in dispensing stamps, aiding local business people in Carey. After Mrs Allan Smith gave up the gate Carey vendors may be forced to leave town to buy stamps.
The Carey Band Mothers meet Monday February 5 at the high school. Committee chair Mrs Offenbacher leads a group including Mrs Mott, Mrs Treece, Mrs Caudill, Mrs Romig, Mrs Miller, Mrs Schultz, Mrs Sargent, and Mrs Dunn to finalize plans for a bake sale set for February 10 at Dible's plumbing shop.
Dr. Walter Zauge of Bowling Green State University will be the speaker at the Carey Community Institute on February 22 and 23. Leo Bernard, program chairman, says an amateur program will be included Friday evening and invites individuals or groups to contact Bernard Furniture Store to participate.
Mary M artha class of Christ Lutheran Sunday school will host a bake sale on Saturday starting at 10 a m at the Ohio Fuel Gas office. Community patrons invited to support.
A pre-Lenten card party will be held Sunday evening February 4 at 8:00 at St Nicholas parish Frenchtown. Refreshments will be served.
