Public School News Roundup From Carey High

The school suspended Tuesday at 4:00 until Monday morning January 4 for Christmas break. Hi Y service last Sunday in the auditorium impressed staff and students. Former Carey students visited this week as colleges began vacations. Two junior girls rejuvenated the principal’s office and earned praise. Ex-teachers Miss Kieffer and Mrs Norton visited over the weekend. Semester exams are set for January 14 and 15. Supt Driver plans a 150 question general knowledge test for high school pupils in January.

Victory Loan Over-Subscribed in Northwestern Ohio Drive

Toledo reports the fifth area covering 20 northwestern Ohio counties including Wyandot exceeded its Victory Loan quota of 51.3 million. Subscriptions at 11 a.m. reached 54 million with an estimated 5 million more to be reported before the drive ends, and officials say every county should meet the target.

She is improving slowly. Three Reinhart Brothers Serve in U S Armed Forces

Bernard Reinhart enlisted in the U S Navy last Thursday in Toledo and is now in inactive service awaiting call. He is the third son of Mr. and Mrs. Linus Reinhart of south of Carey. Ensign Harold E. Eleven Wyandot selectees sent to Fort Hayes for service

Eleven of the 23 Wyandot county selectees were sent to Fort Hayes Columbus and accepted for service. Eleven others were rejected while one is held as a transfer. Accepted inductees include Carey Marion Gamel Henry Paul Brown Rob ert Dale Tong and others from Carey Upper Sandusky Sycamore Harpster. They will report for active duty after Christmas. Marine Corps and Coast Guard quotas for December are filled and no further enrollments are accepted at present. Volunteers may report after the new year.
