Blakely Brother Killed at Wake Island In Action

Frank Blakely a U S Marine from Hartford Connecticut was killed in action at Wake Island on December 7 during the Japanese attack. He was 22 and serving his first tour. Survived by his parents Dr and Mrs F B Blakely and two brothers Theodore and Warren Warren is in the Navy and serving in the Pacific. The navy later corrected an earlier erroneous report of his death.

Train Hits Truck at Findlay Street Crossing

A Transamerican line truck en route from Columbus to Detroit collided with a northbound New York Central freight train at 1:30 Friday morning at the Findlay street crossing. The tractor was demolished and unloaded from the trailer. the driver suffered cuts and bruises while the engine sustained minor damage.

Navy relaxes enlistment physical standards for Navy and Reserve

The Navy department announced last week a relaxation of physical requirements for enlistment. The changes allow men with varicose veins hernia and certain nasal or dental issues to join the regular Navy or Naval Reserve. Recruits will be treated for defects at training stations and rejoined promptly. the policy excludes applicants for commissioning classes.

Evangelical Revival at Memorial Evangelical Church Schedule

The Carey F F A boys will depart December 26 by school bus for Florida with 28 members, returning January 5, 1942, after about 2700 miles. Financed mainly by chapter funds, they sell pencils and list the Carey basketball schedule for income. They sponsor a December theater show at Carey theatre December 18 to 20 featuring The Sheriff of Tombstone and Unholy Partners.

Mrs. Alton Phillips of 1% miles west of Carey fell in her yard at about 10 o clock Sunday evening fracturing her right hip. She was taken to Findlay hospital where she is reported resting as comfortable as possible.

Navy Recruiting Office Open 24 Hours A Day In Marion

The U S Navy recruiting office in Marion Ohio is now open 24 hours a day seven days a week. Requirements and qualifications have been lowered and men rejected before may reapply for a recheck. Farm Mishap Leeds to Severe Injuries for Reynolds Man

Donald Clark aged 24 was badly hurt when thrown from a tractor at his farm 514 miles southwest of Carey on Tuesday afternoon at 5 30. The tractor struck a large stone pile in the yard causing the crash. the wheel ran over his left leg. He suffered several cracked vertebrae and torn ligaments. He rests at Findlay hospital after admittance by Bristoll ambulance.
