Martin Schrauder a Tiflin contractor suffered a cave in while making a sewer connection Tuesday. The eight foot trench buried him head down under earth for about 35 minutes before his extraction. Passersby mistook his muffled calls for a dog bark, and help arrived after his partner returned. He walked home after being freed.
A large raid by county and federal officers led to 130 arrests as a gang of bank robbers and dope violators was dismantled. The operation involved out of city officers and targeted fugitives across multiple charges.

Relatives of Vincent Lowery express sincere thanks to neighbors and friends for assistance during the bereavement. They appreciate flowers, the minister and choir, and those who provided automobiles for services.
The Vanlue school district plans a special election to approve a consolidated building after new territory joined the district. McLaughlin and Hulsken of Lima won the contract for preliminary plans. Over 125 attended the Father and Son banquet at the Lutheran church last Thursday evening hosted by the Sunday school class taught by Roy Kirkwood. The program opened with America and prayers led by Dr EF Luther Spaid followed by speeches on Sunday School themes.
Henry Morris a Toledo Superior Forest proprietor was arrested for complicity in the Harpster barn robbery. He was brought to Upper Sandusky, released on $10,000 bond, with preliminary hearing set for December 15. Toledo and local attorneys represented him.
The Strand welcomes a new $495 Simplex projecting machine. An expert arrived on Wednesday to install the device.

Elias Thrash died Monday at his home near Carey after an illness from organic heart trouble and old age. Funeral rites were held Wednesday at 1 00 from the house and 130 from Bigelow church with Rev. Harvey Thomas officiating. Interment in the church cemetery followed. He was born March 25 1839 in Fairfield county and moved here in 1863. Survived by one son Clinton three daughters Mrs John Wisebaker Mrs George Tong and Mrs George Yahn two brothers and one sister thirteen grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.
The Carey Tire and Rubber Co plant construction progresses with footings completed by Mrs W H Snyder Sons and a building contract let to C G Dennis of Tiffin. A siding from the Locking Valley will convey material to the site as work proceeds under supervising engineer M Walker of The Christian Swartacn verg Gaed Engineering Co Cleveland on a $70 000 contract.
At the regular meeting of Carw Post No 173 Department of Ohio GAW officers for 1920 were elected: Post Commander Homer Thrall senior vice commander Thomas H Smith junior vice commander George Huff chaplain W A Perkins officer of the day Ma Thornton and quartermaster G W Starr. The commander appointed W C Anderson adjutant.

Mrs Lawrence Cook county president and Mrs A J King and Miss D Gilliland attended a county institute in Harrisper. It was described as the best ever held in the county. The WCTU arranged for Rey Sheppard of Upper Sandusky to hold monthly services and the union will give Christmas treats to infirmary inmates.

Biglick Center Grange will present a December 12 program featuring Song Grange recitations by Alice Nse Reading Winter music Muss Tony solo and vocalists. The program includes a Verses contest and a guest appearance by King asity 4 Daye with Me in the Year aria.
