Soldier from Wyandot County loses leg in North Africa action
Pvt. Nelson G Frisch 27 son of Mr and Mrs C S Frisch south of Kirby underwent an above the knee amputation after wounds received in the second front action at Safi Morocco. He is recovering at Walter Reed hospital Washington DC as his fiancee Annabel Mitten and his parents visit. He left the States Oct 18 arrived Africa Nov 8 and is the first Wyandot County casualty to receive the Purple Heart along with six officers and six enlisted men wounded there.

Mrs Ollie Graves Undergoes Major Operation After Thanksgiving
Mrs Ollie Graves was taken to Findlay hospital in Bristoléll’s ambulance on Thanksgiving evening. She underwent a major operation Monday at 10 o’clock and is improving. A blood transfusion followed, donor being her niece Mrs Maurice Steinmetz. Present at the operation were Mrs Perry Presser Dallas Putnam Mrs Steinmetz and Mrs Ralph Heck with Mrs Graves. Mrs Heck stayed with her mother late Monday evening.

Child Drinks Coal Oil. Recovers At Doctor Office
Robert LeRoy Stroub, 15 months old, drank coal oil from a cup at home on Adam street. Mrs. Stroub took him to a local doctor's office where a stomach pump was used. The child showed no bad symptoms after the treatment.

Glass Eye Shattered In Farm Door Accident
Joseph Niederkohr of West street was injured while installing a barn door track on a Carey area farm owned by Martin Frey when a log screw struck his glass eye.
