Carey and Upper Battle To A Scoreless Tie In Seasonal Finale

A large Thanksgiving crowd watched Carey high school and Upper Sandusky battle to a 0-0 tie at the athletic field. Carey limited Upper’s gains with stout defense, while Messmer’s punting and a strong Blue and White line kept the Orangemen from scoring. Seven Carey seniors played their final game, and the coach promised return for basketball coverage.

Christmas Concert at Methodist Church Directed by Eugenia Henry

The GaNTATA chorus of the Methodist church presents a Christmas carol program on Sunday evening December 20. Methodist Thank Offering Services

The Home Missionary society and the Foreign Missionary society conducted their annual thank offering service at morning worship. An anthem titled Jesus, the Very Thought of Thee was performed by a mixed choir. Rev. C. W. Sultzbach spoke on A Better World for all the World. A quartet sang I Gave My Life For Thee during the offering.

Death of W. K. Leonard Father of K L Leonard

W K Leonard 66 died Thanksgiving morning at his Piqua home after a year of illness. Survived by widow and son W W Leonard of New York City. He led the Piqua Hosiery Co and once presided over the Ohio Manufacturers association. Funeral 2 PM Saturday at home. burial in Piqua cemetery.

December Committee Will Entertain Women of Mooseheart Group

The December committee led by Mrs. J. T. Stombaugh Mrs. F. A. Miller and Mrs Howard Gobrecht will entertain the Women of Mooseheart Legion and their families and friends at the Moose Hall next Tuesday evening December 8. There will be cards dancing and other amusements.

Death of Elton Karr in Crawford County

Elton Karr died at his home four miles southeast of town on Thursday afternoon from apoplexy after a week of illness. He was born February 2, 1870 on a farm near Carey and is survived by his wife Myrtle Dodge two sons and four daughters and several siblings. Funeral services are set for Friday at 10:00 a.m. at Bringman & Co funeral home Upper Sandusky with burial in Ritchie Cemetery near Crawford.

Uncle David C Shearer’s 92nd Birthday Celebration

Rev. D. E. Paulin plans to attend the 92nd birthday anniversary of his only living uncle, David C. Shearer, a Crawford county pioneer living on a Bucyrus-area farm. Shearer is described as well preserved in mind and body, a keen reader knowledgeable in country, community, and church affairs.

Death of Roy Presler

Roy Presler aged several years died Monday at his parents home in Grant Michigan from croup and complications. The family had moved from west of Alvada a week earlier. He is survived by his parents Mr and Mrs Hiram Presler and siblings Cecil Pastoria Rog Wilford Allen Ellen and Dorothy plus paternal grandparents and many relatives. Funeral services were held Wednesday at the Grant Community church with burial in Grant cemetery and pallbearers Cecil Wilford Allen and Paul Presler. Attendees from nearby towns joined in the funeral observance.

Mother's Prayer Pageant at Methodist Church

E J Sanderson 65 of McCutchenville died at his residence Tuesday evening due to diabetes after months of ill health. He is survived by his widow. Funeral services set for Saturday at 12 30 p m at the residence and 1 00 p m at McCutchenville Presbyterian Church. Burial in Wayne. He was nephew of Mrs John Slotterbeck of this place.

Knights of Columbus Hold Banquet and Meeting Reminders

K of C members are urged to attend the next meeting on Tuesday evening December 8 to discuss an important question. Memorial services for deceased members were held after last week’s regular meeting with Fr Edwin Borntraeger delivering a brief address. The annual banquet occurred Thursday evening November 9 at the parish hall with Sisters and girls serving the dinner. Brown’s orchestra provided music and John Greer was toastmaster. T C Myers gave the welcome, with Rev Fr Paul Vollrath, Rev Fr Edwin Borntraeger, F W Maiberger of Tiffin, district deputy, and Julian Gardner the local scout leader speaking on Boy Life.
