The funeral for J L Alspach was conducted at St Pauls church last Tuesday afternoon by Rev E Luther Spaid. The Ridge quartet sang. Pallbearers included Ashley Alspach of Marion Verne Alspach of Nevada and four brothers in law. Attendees from distance included Jikeshaffer Mrs Sarah Hummell V Fr Alspach Ashley Alspach. Thanksgiving Services Innovation Draws Large Lutheran Church
Thanksgiving services were held Thursday evening at the Lutheran church marking a new evening format after years of forenoon services. The event drew a large congregation with Rev. Hagerman delivering the sermon on the Thanksgiving spirit. The Lutheran choir, led by G. W. Sutphen, provided hymns and two anthems with a solo by Robert Ewing. An afternoon and evening guest gathering followed at the Tong homes in Vanlue with many neighbors in attendance.

City Council Bills Paid And Street Repairs Discussed
The city council met Monday night with members Wonder Angus Ryder Washburn Heck Dunlap and Baecouncilmen present. Bills paid included salaries for Angus Lytle and Frederick among others and several purchases from Ash and Houck and the coal company. Details on street repairs showed progress in fixing bad spots. Ralph Wenner questioned a damage claim for his horse from an April 30 accident near Alonzo Oggs. the claim was tabled for further investigation.

Injured in Auto Crash Near Marblehead
S Ward of Marblehead, superintendent of Ottawa county schools, was injured when his car crashed into a tree on the return from Sandusky last Thursday. Four others were in the car. the extent of Ward's injuries is unclear, with chest trauma and internal injuries reported.
