Navy duty shifts Traxler from Alaska to Kodiak
Donald Ray Traxler ATAN son of Mr and Mrs Gerald Traxler 306 S Patterson St Seattle left Seattle July 30 for navy duty near Kodiak Alaska where he will be stationed until fall. In a August 20 letter he says he just returned from memorial services for 12 buddies killed in a plane crash August 12. They serviced planes around the clock for the search. the wrecked plane was found on a nearby island with no survivors. Another plane crash killed no one.

Memorial Park will close for the season including the pool. At a park board meeting Monday routine business was approved and sidewalk construction along S Patterson street near the ball diamond was authorized if funds allow. Pvt Raymond Rex Killed in California Plane Crash
Pvt. Raymond Rex 20, son of Mrs. Mildred Jones of Carey Ohio, died in a DC 6B Mainliner crash near Decoto California Friday morning. The craft carried 50 people and was one of two UAL DC 6 crashes in two months. Rex had been on furlough from Camp Stoneman to Camp Breckinridge and was identified by dental records after the wreck.
